I pick up the paper and I see violence, corruption, and anger. Most of the editorials are either some narrow-minded drivel about how God's going to get us, or someone bitching about other folks who are just trying to live their own lives. TV is a wasteland. Crime drama, CSI, angry lawyers in court, blood, guts, and any gross thing they can dream up in the special effects lab. Springer et al bringing out the worst qualities in the worst folks. Bigger, better, faster, louder, and let's see the new ways the military can kill people. Then there's video games. I don't need to tell you about them. Layoffs, retirement plans going bust, healthcare plans being abandoned, and a minimum wage that wouldn't keep a chihuahua in food and shelter. Is it any wonder people go off their rockers? How do we stop this craziness?
this crazyness has been going on for..... well.... forever. the best way to stop it is to not be part of it. and teach your children not to be part of it. live off the land.
"Be the change you wish to see"...or something like that. I guess we just have to wait for the next age of aquarius.
The scariest thing about video games, as a part of American culture, is that it has sucked in a TON of the people who would have otherwise possibly made a real difference for the better in this country. I look at my friends, a bunch of punk anarchist guys and a few hippies, and they talk so much about how they want to change things, but their minds are so stuck on the artificial world of video games that they never will make a change. One guy I knew who, imo, really could have done some damage to the system, instead spent about a year of his life more in an online world than in the real one. It's really messed up, and I'm glad I never had much of a chance to get into the whole video game thing. ~Nova
My advice to you is to stop watching the news altogether. Most americans feel this way because they watch cnn or fox news every night and they see only the negative things about the world so in turn they are negative and depressed. Stop watching the news.
Typical American, a tv addiction. Also typical how some of you exaggerate. TV has it's use and videogames are great fun (for some). Don't watch news and crappy programs all day, use your head and keep an open view if you wanna spend a night on watching tv and if you feel like playing a videogame play for a while. Tsk.
Is there a reason for you to say anything at all? Your input is unwanted and I can speak for everyone when I say that you as a whole are unwanted.
The newspapaper? I'll tell you another place you can see all that: The History Channel! Violence is rampant throught the history of the human race, long before there was TV or any other form of mass communication. We try again and again to rise above it only to have to go to war against someone who has no interest in rising above it. It's going to stay that way until we can all learn to respect and tolerate our differences, but I'm not holding my breath.
...humans are sickening, which is y i don't fancy classifying myself as one. people see violence as a necessary part of their daily living, it amuses them to see people in pain, that's why we see so much of it...i don't watch television at all & the only reason i read the paper is to remind myself of how sick fellow human being are. welcome to america.
Speaking of video games, has anyone noticed since we went "to war" there has been an increase in military themed video games? I'm not talking about futuristic-build-your-own-robot type thing, I'm talking anything with historical war and Tom Clancy's name slapped on it. I read somewhere that the govt. gives incentives to video game companies to produce games like that so that the govt. could "hopefully" recruit new members when they come of age. I don't know if it's true or not, but it woudn't surprise me.
No, there wouldn't be any need to provide incentives, the outrageous profits they make is all the incentive they need. Long before there were video games boys would play with toy guns and toy soldiers. Then there were war movies, one of the most profitable genres around. Violence is exciting, and we love to be excited. But when the violence is make believe it doesn't leave one traumatized. Later in life many join the service and go to war for real and discover how horrific it really is.
. Are you really so stupid you can't figure out how to put me on your ignore list? And besides... I've yet to see you post anything of value anywhere. Out of your 161 posts, I think about 155 have been complaints about me.
