Take a look at this nice peice i made. I used a hair spray cap, a straw from a fast food restauraunt, a plastic mouthpeice from a blunt, tin from a soda can, a lighter for melting plastic, and a pin to poke holes in the screen. And i covered it all in tape so it didn't look so ghetto. Pretty nice for a home made pipe.

 

hairspray cap. . .as in a plastic hairspray cap? don't smoke out of that, that will do some bad stuff to you.

yeah i was thinking that too. you're sucking in all that hot melting plastic shit.... god knows what's in that. glass or metal or ceramic is what i smoke from.

Smoking burning plastic is a BAD idea, you could get pretty sick. It wont make it fun.

lol have you lived in a box all your life? melting plastic is one of the many ways to destroy brain cells. its not like alcohol. its almost exactly the same as sniffing petrol and glue and stuff. the chemicals jsut kill your brain cells, full stop. Just like inhalants, you get very sick form smoking too much.

anyway have you tried using this pipe? caus if you did im sure yull find the bowl will jsut melt, if its made of plastic?

but anyway, it looks rather nice, maybe if you coloured it in some really cool colours.

 

im not that stupid, the inside of the bowl is alumminum... and me and my friends smoke out of it all the time

aluminum = bad when smoked out of
plastic = bad when smoked out of
the straw will melt as well heat is carried down it from the bowl...remember, you're inhaling flame.
and the aluminum won't do jack to insulate the plastic from being melted. take aluminum, put it agaisnt your skin, then use a lighter on the other side. note how the aluminum is a great conducter of heat and a shitty insulator from the 1000 degree flame of the lighter.
why not spend 5 dollars and get an actual pipe?

i msut say, youve got your stuff wrong, and right tho.

you dont inhale flame and a lighter does not burn at 1000 degrees. (well i dunno about farenheight i guess u mgiht be tlaking in that).

the straw wont melt, but it will let off fumes. still, straws are made of a relatively safe plastic espcialyl since its not actually in the bowl.

but your right in that aluminium would do jack all in protecting teh plastic.

and yeh you can get annodised aluminium/brass pipes in most tobacconists in sydney at least, for 5-10 aussi dollars.

 

lol, of course your not inhaling the flame that was an exageration, but the pipe is... trust me, straws are no good in the long run and do eventually morph and melt even if only used as a stem. you can get pipes here for 5 dollars canadian, and if you go to a garage sale usually old wooden pipes are there for like a $1.00.
and your also right about the heat 1000 degrees was an exageration, it's more like 850 (unless the flame is turned up really high).

oh and not only does the aluminum not insulate the plastic it also oxydises at a much lower temperature than the flame burns at, as does brass. brass/aluminum pipes would still be bad for you..although i don't know what anoodising is so maybe that somehow protects your pipes?...who knows.

 

Aluminum oxide has not been proven to be bad for you.


Also, I have several bongs wich I use a Bic pen as a stem with, and all of them work wonderfully. I know what plastic fumes taste like, because I've had the unfortune to have hit a poorly made pipe with a nut and plastic Bic pen stem, and I don't get any plastic taste.

The biggest indicator of plastic fumes is a major headache, harshness, and a very foul taste in your mouth.

By the way, the pipe I'm talking about, I was trying to resin hit it. Two things that will really help to ensure that no plastic gets burnt or melted is a tightly packed bowl, and a screen. Bare hitting anything with a plastic stem will equal immediate and strong plastic fumage.


The small bong in this picture is using a stem that I once used in a flashlight-bong I made. The problem with it is that I used a ratchet head that fit on it very well. The end (which was where the bowl was at orginally on the flashlight bong) was melted because I was trying to resin hit without a screen. The flame went right down into it, and I got TONS of plastic fume. It bent and warped, and was highly misfigured. I bent it up into shape with a lighter, but I had to apply a lot of heat. And seeing how your weed usually burns at a temperature a lot lower than the flame, I don't think it will hurt the plastic, and I've seen no evidence that it does with those two bongs, and about 4 others I've made.

 

Lol why you guys even bother with getto blasters? GET SOMETHING REAL its well worth it, so what your 15? im 15 to and i have 2 pipes and a glass bowl dont you guys kno anyone 18?
