don't you think he was the sweetest kindest rockstar I love his music but I also love his philosphy in life it made a difference to me when I was in my last year at primary I was a very angry violent person and then I found his words of wisdom and it gave me a whole new perspective and I learnt so quickly the values of inner peace tolerence love kindness and compassion that had been lacking in my life till then I also think it was then I grew up, he really touched me.
George was great - not only a great songwriter and guitarist, but he did so much to help spread knowledge of Krishna in the west. I'm sure his music has helped many people in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.
i honestly dont know much about him other than he was a beatle, and the beatles were pretty fuckin cool...
thats about it for me too, and i know that he played some cool tunes with a sitar. or maybe im confusing that with someone else.....
i'm pretty sure he did the sitar thing, i also know he was into the hindu hare krishna jazz, and i think ravi shankar was his guru, not positive on that one
Pandit Ravi Shankar wasn't George's guru, but he did give him sitar lessons. George was a great supporter of the Krishna Consciousness movement in the west, and donated a very nice big house called Bhaktivedanta Manor to the Krishna's, which is their UK HQ.
oh but he turned him onto krishna and hinduism didnt he? i thought i read the beatles had a guru in india for a while
I'm not sure if Ravi Shankar was instrumental in turning george on to hinduism - he may have met him later on, after his interest had been kindled. George and the others did visit the ashram of Maharishi Maehesh Yogi in India around the time of Brian Epstien's death, but George later met A.C,Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of the Hare Krishna movement in the west, and it was he who George considered as his Guru. An interview with George, John and Yoko with Srila Prabhupada can be found at http://www.webcom.com/~ara/col/books/YM/cbh/ Hope that's useful.
Oh, I absolutely love him! He's one of my favorites And yeah, there's much more to him and his music than being a part of the Beatles.
He is my favourite from Beatles....,.Yeah he was GREAT...when I watch Beatles first videos..he looks so simple so nice and good person.....And he really was..!!! He was awesome remarkable, superb person, but he didn't changed when he become a star that's why I have a fancy for him...It's sad that he so tried to recover from cancer, but...... HE WAS THE BEST!!! "I'm really quite simple. I don't want to be in the business full-time, because I'm a gardener. I plant flowers and watch them grow. I don't go out to clubs and partying. I stay at home and watch the river flow." [George Harrison]
