ever had you tonsils taking out?

my doctor was reveiwing my folder and saw i had streap a number of times and said i have a possiblilty i getting them out! i dont want them out, i have connected with them although since i stayed home from school today because i have massive pains from the, i think they should stay. i hate surgrey of any kind and medication. bad past experiences that i did on my part has led to believe all this.

anywho, if you ever got them out, how did it feel and how long is the pain? ever gotten streap after you go them out?

I got mine out when I was 4.

I was unconscious for the surgery...threw up a lot after (I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia) Got to eat a lot of ice cream and jello. It wasn't a terrible experience. I imagine it is better than being sick all the time from keeping the tonsils...

I have never had strep in my life.

no really, i still have my tonsils and everything else that i was born with.
there was this kid here who had his tonsils out and died. scary stuff.

 

Haven't had mine out, but when I was younger I had enough throat infections that the doctor said if I got just one more, he'd take 'em out.

Didn't get an infection for a good 8 years after that, heh.

 

lucky...i dont have to get them out but i do have streap... luckyly its gonna be gone by friday...

 

I had mine taken out when I was a baby.

A little known fact: tonsils can actually grow back.

no one is stealing my tonsils. teeth on the other hand, ive had 16 out!!

 

i wonder if you do get your tonsils taking out, if you can keep it upon request...i asked for my wisdom teeth so i can see them and say goodbye, but they said i couldnt...i even cried in the room before they out me to sleep. i want to keep everything that was in body...IN MY BODY.

I've never had mine out, but I do hear a lot have bad reactions to the anesthesia and do throw up a whole lot afterwards. But I think a day or two of puke would be way better than years of recurring tonsilitis and strep.

 

I was extremely young when I had my tonsils out. I dont remember any of it. my parents told me I was a baby....... so I was probably one or two........ who knows?

 

seems like it was in vogue when we 30 somethings were younger to automatically remove tonsils if kids ever had an uri

i still think that if they'd taken me off of dairy i'd still have most of my parts.

 

i sotra want mine out so i dont get strep anymore...i already missed 2 dyas of school and its my junior year so i gotta book it to make up work...then i have a student counsil exe board meeting too. strep takes everything out of you. i just saw the werid thing on the tonsils and it makes me mad that i have this going on. i cant wait 3 more days till it over...but my mommy has been taking care of me...tomorrow is tie-dye day at school and I CANT miss tomorrow.

 

I don't miss my tonsils. It's not like they cut off an arm. I would miss an arm.

 

Took 'em when I was five. I vaguely remember vomiting up lots of blood.

Later, I got to eat tons of jello, & ice cream. (the good part) I also have never had strep since, & did not go deaf in either ear...So, in my case, it was a good thing.
