has anyone else read The Mote in Gods Eye series or the Ringworld series? iv only just started reading larry niven this year and im hooked on it. the way he creates entire worlds so thouroughly, and still manages to include character depth and plausible scientific possibilities.

Ringworld is part of his "Known Universe" and I've read much of this.

I've only read Mote, but not the sequel.

Niven is a great SF writer. Good hard SF.

y'know, Larry Niven is one of my favourite authors of all time.. but I really don't like the Ringworld series at all... wierd - everyone else does!!

In my opinion his best work is Integral Trees I highly highly recommend it!

(Check out "Legacy of Heorot" while you're at it as well :) )

the integral trees was great, although i'm still trying to understand the physics of it. Even with diagrams some of his stuff is confusing

His Ringworld series is excellent. I've been meaning to get some of his other works. Unfortunately, i've misplaced the second book in the ringworld series. The ringworld engineers or something, so i can't read them again 'till i find it :(

I am reading "N Space". It's a collection of Niven short stories. I am really enjoying it. I am just new to his work.

Niven is one of the true greats. He does his research and you won't often catch him making a mistake, and he's simply a damn fine writer. His entire Known Space series, his colaborations with Pournell, and some of my favorites are his Dream Park books with Barnes. Very few of his books have failed to capture me, and I've read a lot of them.

Niven is one of THE greats of 'speculative fiction'

Many here dont know occam but in 35 years he has read just about all
    the popular sf there is.
    Upwards of 5000 titles.

Niven is brilliant and niven and pournelle even more so.
Occam agrees with foxes_den..niven captures u from page one..

    Where is my droud?
The puppeteers have to be the most original and realistic
aliens EVER in SF. Why..cause they are EXACTLY what humans
    WOULD NOT EXPECT. opportunistc cowards.

    Brilliant
