I'm 4'11", 210 lbs. (last time I weighed, but am probably more), I get oily skin and hair and sweat profusely, my sense of smell is so messed up that most times, I can't smell things that others can unless they're really strong... it's hard to explain... I'm a terrible prioritizer, so the only way I seem to succeed with food is by following a planned diet. I've tried Atkins, Weight Watchers, and I've dabbled with Vegetarianism and the Fit for Life book. The most successful weight loss was when I was on a high protein, low-carb diet, but I've heard from many that those are very dangerous. I've been given loads of advice and appreciated it all, but right now I'm just on the "see food and eat it" plan, even if my dinner is skillet-toasted bread and a pint of Ben & Jerry's, which I know is unhealthy. My friend has opposite metabolism though and loses weight very quickly when eating lots of vegetables and small portions of protein and carbs and such, but we both want an eating plan we can stick to and can research for free versus going out and buying a book. We are both legally blind, so print and paperback materials are not as preferable as a full-featured free website. As for exercise, I was thinking of yoga and walking, but don't know about walking too far or too often now that it's getting colder and rainier here. We're low-income, so a gym or class or piece of machinery won't cut it either. Thanks in advance for the help!
Have you been seend by an MD? Sound to me like maybe you need a blood test and your thyroid levels checked before you begin to diet. Also there is a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrom that has some of they symptoms you mention like sweatiness and weight gain. It can also cause women to get more hairy. If you go to the women'd issues forums, you may get more help and support there. Good luck!
Girl, firsly, if you want to be come slim and healthy, you have to understand and say YES i will become... and not try some diets then quit then try somethign else.. then eat liek pig.... NO, if you do that, you will never succed. If you are goign to run everday-or every other day. no matter how painfull it is.. ur body will get used to it and eventaully you will becoem less fat, and have more stamina... in order to last and feel good. you have to eat 6-10 servigns of fruitsa nd vegetables... ur friend loses wiehgt because vegetables tend to suck in fat cells in ur body and wit hthat ur body gets slimmer.... if you dont execise and dont eat... or dont do oen of these two.. you will stay like this. It is easy to undersatnd. but hard to do, but its only up to you.
get your thyroid checked and walk for as long as you can twice a day-that's free. I'm sorry you're going through this ): and I hope it comes off safely and quickly. Our bodies get out of whack so easily!
