Notice how these are all sequels/prequels? *yawn* I don't think I'll waste my $10 to see any of these movies.

the good thing about old horror movies was they didn't have the technology for most of these special effects and resorted to plot lines that were almost real, like they could actually happen, take Friday the 13th, not the best horror film of all time, but it had a sense of reality, Saw has the same feel i do admit, but then you look at shit like the Grudge and it's full of floating spirits and all that shit

I disagree, horror story telling has changed but definatly not because of technology and the story telling 40 years ago was not more realistic, infact, 40 years ago it was more unrealistic. The grudge is a remake of a jhorror film and it doesnt rely on crazy special effects, it relys on atmosphere and good story telling, as much as i disliked it, thats what all jhorror is, good atmosphere.

And yes, the finale of friday the 13th is believable.

    extremely believable.

i see dead children popping out of lakes all the time.

None of them...especially considering that some of them don't even get released until the summer of 2007...which counts towards next year's quota not this year's.

I am actually fairly impressed with the non sequel/prequel/remake films this year. The Descent and Pulse were better than any of the other remakes like Wicker Man, The Omen, The Hills Have Eyes...ect.

It would be nice if Hollywood concentrated on making half-decent original movies rather than remaking every other movie ever made.

Imagine if they used their brainpans for once and came up with the same quality as Ginger Snaps again.

in the case of Friday the 13th i meant realism as in yeah, there could be some crazy fucker in the woods hunting people down for no apparent reason, or Saw, it's possible you could be kidnapped, held against your will, and forced into a life or death situation.

I'm pretty sure the victims of the Manson Family and Jeffrey Dahmer were living a reallife horror movie.

I didn't know Pulse was a remake. Well..good for them. It was a better remake than the others.

How can you like Dog Soldiers but not Ginger Snaps? Both are pretty much the best werewolf movies to come out since American Werewolf in London. Both are incredibly original and quirky. Which is why they have cult status. ;D

But Dog Soldiers is very funny, has a solid cast, and is British. Ginger Snaps isn't, doesn't, and isn't. It was okay, but nothing to write home about, as the last guy said.

ginger snaps was an episode of buffy that didnt have joss's shitty humor, and was just a step above buffy.

Actually Buffy is brilliant, clever, funny, engaging and sexy. But it's not horror, and Ginger Snaps is not Buffy.

Buffy is definatly not brilliant, and i wouldnt say clever either, and its humor, thats what ruins it for me.

Ginger Snaps was a highschool drama with scifi/horror elements and thats what I see Buffy as.
