difficult times.... meditation help?

i am in a difficult time right now, many changes and challenges and sorrow going on in my life at the moment. when trying to meditate, i mean, i am just a beginner, i get these very negative visuals, they are from a real place, in the city i live, it's only gray, concrete and very bad vibes, like a place you would find heavy junkies maybe. and i have walked past by this place, but never BEEN there, or spent time there, and never been the least intresseted in this place, never payed any attention to it. and this image of it keeps on coming back everytime i meditate, it's really weird! WHY JUST HIS PLACE? i wonder?
well anyway, when this happen, i really try focus all my energy to think to something else. but it's very difficult, it's like making a huge effort, but i do manage for a while to be somewhere else, and then, i drift back..... this has been like this for 3 -4 weeks i guess. any explanations/suggestions? thanx!

 

freakon, what exactly is the difficultyinyour life now? (pm me if too personal) perhapds even this place in all its darkness has a purpose for you, not as a place that can bring that darkness into you, but perhaps a place where you can shed some light & through that work through your own difficulties?

 

Oh man.. that seems tough to get thru... my insight... you say you have a lot of changes, and challenges in your life right now... the gray concrete is the symbolization of that. Maybe it needs attention before you are able to move past it... do you use music... that helps me focus sometimes.. it occupies my mind... just keeep trying... also pay alot of attention to your dreams if you are a vivd dreamer... soaring eagle is rihgt... even darkness can bring light...
