Just kinda wondering what all concerts or festys you guys went to or wanted to go to...... and your thoughts on them i checked out numerous hookah shows of course... prbly up to around 50 and starting to get burnt out a little bit.... I also checked out blues traveler which was pretty bad ass... John popper threw me his harmonica during the show and my buddy got back staged and got it signed for me! Yonder was very cool!!! kept me dancing for hrs. Only bad thing was they were kinda down because their tour bus got pulled over on the way into the show but the driver took the rap for everything in the bus CSNY was sweet..... but I hate ampitheaters with a passion!!! they also didnt play enough young songs for me but... im a little biased there Willie Nelson was sweet but it was a sit down show..... and u had to drink your beer in the hallway outside the show.... Music was great I love his new reggae albums Allman brothers..... great show everytime i see em.... enough said Umphrees and particle..... I wasnt really impressed with either of em STS9 was pretty sweet.... not something I would watch all the time though Peter Rowan Tony Rice Ralph Stanley and my favorite Bluegrass band Del McCoury were alll fucking sweeeeet.......... Bluegrass might be becoming my favorite type of music I just love it!! Tool..... badass show like always.... Im sure theres some im leaving out ohhh Burning Spear was really cool
I saw The Horrorpops, that was awesome. It was a really high energy show! I've never been in a moshpit that fun before and all the people were really great. Then I went to EdFest... Saw Nelly Furtado for the third time. That woman puts on a great show everytime! and she stuck to her second album which made me soooo happy as I am not a big fan of her new stuff.... Her opening acts blews chucks though.... Next was Maurice, Armchair Cynics and Our Lady Peace. Amazing show! holy cow. I was in the middle five people back in the biggest moshpit I've ever entered. It was outside under an amazing sun set and the music was perfect. Armchair Cynics went on a little too long though. But they are great to watch cuz the lead singer is such a cocky little showboat.... Our Lady Peace was amazing! I even touched Raine Maida and got a picture of him singing Innocent and looking straight into my camera. It was soooo great.
Grassroots music festival at Shakori Hills is this weekend they've got a bit of everything it's the only real music festival i've ever been to, but this'll be my 3rd time in which case, your sig reminds me of how i'll be feeling by sunday in fact....both of your sigs kind of do that
I've been to Fairport Cropredy convention this summer, where I saw Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, TenCC and a lot of cool folk rock. I also went to Germany for the Wacken Open Air festival, to many stuff to name. But Ministry and Celtic Frost were two of my favourite shows there this year. I'm also forgetting some shows, since I always forget when it exactly was. I saw Hawkwind this spring!
i saw les claypool, built to spill, the raconteurs, and the pnuma trio. could of seen the black keys, but i spaced that show. wish i went to more shows
OHhhhhh yess i seen claypool as well!!!! one of my favorite shows of the summer!!!! what band was he with when u seen him?
tom petty/trey string cheese all good- i saw everything i wanted. and dave matthews :& ...though i don't remember much i didn't go to very many shows this summer. didn't really have the money.
dammit. i didn't do anything this summer. but i'm going to el monstero, the floyd tribute band, in december.
hmmm i went to bonnaroo (don't shoot me!) but i had a good time despite some assholes and crowdedness.. at bonnaroo i saw tom petty, radiohead, moe., the disco biscuits, umphrey's, rusted root, damian marley, sue george, oysterhead, blues traveler, and last but certainly not least phil lesh and friends... hmm did i go to any other shows? i can't even remember. i've seen some good ones already this year too. sts9, big wu, groovatron, chicago afrobeat project... can't wait for two nights of moe. in november and primus! WOO HOO! oh yeah and the biscuits are playin again here soon.. and particle.. and ratdog. i could go on forever...
i seen bob dylan in stockton. seeing him again this month in sacramento. i should remember to bring a clean pair of panties next time because im pretty sure i'll be busting one god i fucking love him
hm...think think think... I went to Counting Crows CSNY (Omg! brilliant!) I forget if Black Crows was spring or summer, not that it matters I guess, rocked though... Silver Fox Music Fest, and Pelly-Pell-Ooza (local music fests, so fun!) Many many local shows... ...I feel i'm forgetting something super important. I really want to hit up shambhala this year.
what were your thoughts on dickey betts and great southern compared to allman brothers..... ive seen em both and thought they both rocked just wondering what others thought
Personally, I feel if I see the Allman Brothers one year, I am obligated to see Dickey. Mainly because he plays half of their songs, since he was kicked out and they won't play Southbound, etc. If you see one or the other, it's like seeing half the band, though Derek and Warren are still great... it's just different. When I went to see Dickey, I bought a shirt and I realized I didn't have enough money to pay for parking when I left, so this old deadhead that I was talking to through the concert (he was really drunk ) gave me money.
Wait a minute schwa... you saw Umphrey's and weren't impressed? Wow dude... I saw Umphrey's about a year ago and was blown away. They aren't my favorite band by any means and there's a lot of their stuff that I just don't like, but goddamn they were amazing musicians. I did more standing in awe than I did dancing. I dunno though, maybe you just have to play an instrument to realize how incredible some stuff is. I did a very poor job of concert attending this past summer. I only saw a couple of local stuff. All the festys I was gonna go to fell through because of rides or money. I did make it to the labor day fest at nelson's. Dark Star Orchestra was really sweet. While my summer season wasn't the greatest, the fall looks very nice. Tea Leaf Green will be gracing Ohio 3 times this month so I should be able to make at least one of those. There's Gory at the Quarry for Nelson's last event of the year. Looks like a lot of good reggae will be showing up for that. Kaki King will be in Cleveland at the beachland so I hope to not miss that. Oh yeah, the Harvest Jam this weekend outside of Columbus looks very good. -Mike
Oh and I saw BOB freakin' Weir! (RatDog!)w/ string cheese. and steel pulse,...i can't believe i forgot this business!
