yeah, so snow is rare occurence for us north islanders...I for one was THRILLED. and yeah, i think it was pretty. (hope this works anyway, this is at the end of my driveway: this one, at the end of the road this is our front door and finally, there's a couple of the botanical gardens. Yeye snow anyway, yeah
haha, lovely home, lol. Actually it's your standard issue, grotty student flat in the heart of the uni ghetto. The snow is just covering all the broken glass in the street and general disrepair. it looks nicer than it is because the landlord just got it painted...inside though, its a diffrent story... . Student flats are fanatastic though, so cheap and hovelish, but they they're home.
now for a silly question...how is the heat in those student flats? I remember when i was in australia(during their winter)..and it didnt get that cold...but they dont have heat...i would get laughed at for wearing shorts when it was like 60 degrees(15C) out...but then i go to lay down to sleep and i'm shivering ebcause its like subzero inside
So you got a little dusting eh. Not enough to empress an canadian prairy boy I'm afraid. I've seen 6 inches of fresh white stuff in middel of our summer. Actuallly ive seen snow fall in every month of the year whear I live The nights are allready getting cooler out here, it was 5C overnight but 25C in the day. in a few more weeks the first fall frosts will start. The First snows will start in late september, and by the end of october we are usally snowbound till aprill But thats way it goes around here, 2months of spring, 2 months of summer, 2 months of fall, and 8 months of winter.
where in NZ are you? I had been reading just the other day regarding the blizzards going on up in the alps
Im not in in new zealand, Im in canada still. not that I wouldnt mind being in newzealand though. your winters look more comfortable than ours.
well id love to show u pictures of beautiful snow bound palmerston north, but the snow only went as far as ashhurst and not central palmerston north where i am, god damn it, all we got was wind and bloody ice rain brrrrrr
here a few pictures nearby my house of a canadian winter. the local schools make the childeren go outside at reses and lunch untill its -25C outside, if its any colder they dont have to go outside http://jgibbons.epsb.ca/weather.htm
well, cousinit you are obviously far cooler than me, (haha, btw) but i'm still allwoed to get excitied considering this is the first time I've seen real, live snow in a city and only the second time i've seen when not on a mountain . Winters in Dunedin are cold - well mild compared to Canada, but then at least you guys are prepared for the cold. We have to troop everywhere in the cold, and live in flats with no heating and often no insulation - in a recent survey one person had an average temperature of 2 degrees in his room, during the day. and as for 15 degrees - well, the average summer temperature in dunedin (according to my geography student flatmate) is 16 degrees. Winter i would say is maybe around 5 or 6? So shorts might not be the best idea...
Hey... little miss soandso... so there are photies of your street (which look really cool btw) but there aren't any of YOU? what the hell is that?
I was taking the photos, dur... My flatmate has a digital camera...I'lkl try and get her to email me some photies, but the only ones she's got are really old, like from last november.
you guys have no heat or insulation, and my place has too much insulation, it sucks in the sumer time. it will be 25deg outside and 40deg inside, and you cant get the place to cool down. drives you freekin mad. I wind up sleeping in basment half the summer. oh i keep the heater set at less than 10 degrees in the winter, the gass bill gets too damned expensive. especially when it starts getting really cold, -30 to -40 or so.
