But the thing being said is that because we don't know how much is too much for each individual woman and fetus, it's not a wise idea to tempt fate, you know?

It's all well and fine that your dad turned out okay, but there is no way to know if a momma and her baby have the same tolerance your nanna and dad had. And, frankly, it's not worth the risk.

All I can say is your dad is lucky. Back when I waspregnant, the doctors said a glass of wine a day wouldn't hurt. Now they know that a glass of wine can and does hurt. The problem Lola is called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Effect, and Fetal Affect Disorder. All of these are caused by the use ofalcohol during pregnancy. At any point in pregnancy your baby can be affected. They may not be, but who wants to run the risk. One drink may be too much for your baby. And a pint a day throughou the pregnancy might not affect your baby at all. The point is these precious little ones deserve a better break than some people give them. I work with these kids every day. I see babies born addicted to heroin, cocaine, pcp, pills, alcohol, you name it. Believe me I'd much rather see a baby addicted to heroin than one damaged by alcohol. Once they get through the withdrawal from the heroin they can catch up developmentally. The damage done by alcohol is irreversible. Please do not drink at all while you're pregnant. In fact, the only drug that does not cause problems for your baby is weed. So if you can't make it through the day without a mindalteringsubstance, toke up, but leave the alcohol and other stuff alone.

research can't figure out why some babies are born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome after only one or two drinks during pregnancy, and other moms drink like fish and their babies are fine. I'm not personally willing to risk causing that kind of damage to my unborn child. Have you ever seen a person with FES?? I have. And to know that was preventable... well.....

I know all about FAS. I disagree with you all on this issue. Sorry.
