my cronic bud is a little salty is this normal?

Alright well i was chilling with my friend.. and we where going to hit honey oil bowls but i decided not to since it would be my first time and i had to be home in 30 minutes.. so he spotted me a nice phat gram of his personal shit..he didnt want to sell it to me first becasue he wanted to smoke it / sell it to someone else who had the money straight up but i asked him again later and he agreed...well i came home

and it looks like like its COVERED MAD! with white crystals.. i gave it a little lick becasue i rememberd someone tell me about weed laced with baking soda and its a little salty... i know he doesnt smoke shit weed... so im confussed... is this normal... ??? is there a way i can tell if he made the crystals salt... or baking soda etc?

this shit is all to common. dealers will spray sugar/salt water on weed all the time. this does 2 things.... makes it heavier and makes it look covered in crystals when it dries. ive never heard of baking soda being used but im sure its happened.
