I am in the market for one, and i would just like some opinions\advice on which one's you think are the best. I am going away to school in January, so I want to get it before then.
I've been looking for one, too.... I'm completely lost about what to get. I used to date a guy that worked at Dell, and he was always going on about how awesome they are, so I'm thinking about calling them or going to their site or whatever. They kind of customize them for you, don't they? They might be more expensive, but I'm sure they're better and they last longer.
I think theres a thread already just like this. I'd get a cheap dell lap-top. They seem the best out of the bunch.
Stay away from Toshiba. They haven't heard of Battery Technology yet.I bought one three years ago. The battery lasted one month TOTAL LIFE. Only held a charge for 30 minutes from day one. $1000 for that shit? And another $60 for an inverter to plug it into my car.
If you have the money go to with alienware. www.alienware.com Beyond that go with dell id say, seems to be the most dependable lap top these days. If you want a discounted one check out www.tigerdirect.com
dell has a nice warranty and tech assistance. I have had two desktops but never a laptop from them. I havent heard anything bad from my circle of friends however. I just hate their version of windows.
I just recently got this one, and I asked around to all the sites and computer techs, and I have a Compaq Presario. It's nice, though I'm not pushing the brand, just works well
Going off to college? Good for you... I'm wary of laptops. When my mom's school upgraded their computer system, they sold off all the old Toshiba Satellite laptops for $75 each. I didn't need a laptop, as I wasn't planning to take it anyplace, and my little sister ended up pulling it off the shelf by the power cord. That killed the CD drive, and later when I was trying to plug a joystick in the back, I dropped it and killed the screen. The bottom line is, unless you really really need mobility, get a desktop PC. They cost less for the same capabilities, and they're less susceptible to dumb-assedness. To answer your question: Dell is the way to go.
