Seriously, where do you get this information? In 1980, a year before his death, he was baptised into the Ethiopian Orthodox Church under the name of "Berhane Selassie" (Light of the holy trinity). He had wanted to do so for a long time, but this did not mean that he gave up his Rasta lifestyle, and he still believed Haile Selassie had something godly about him.

 

As stated before, when the cancer was detected, doctors wanted to amputate his toe. Rastafarian elders didn't approve of amputations and so Bob didn't have it removed. He later had a skin-graft on the toe due to the injury causing problems at his concerts (after an hour or so of jumping around his shoe became very bloody) but that was all he did.

Later on, when it was far too late, Bob began to receive chaemotherapy which irritated his scalp so much that his side and front locks fell out (or they were cut out in an attempt to relieve the burning feeling - accounts contradict each other). Eventually he became very ill and began treatment with Dr Josef Issels. Some say that this treatment exhausted Bob and made any chances of recovery even worse, but Bob always stood by him.

 

I have 33 of bob marleys albums, that song is not on any of them.

And he had cancer in his toe and it metastized (spelling?) into his lungs. I have the marley dvd with Rita explaining this. They found it in his toe, a while later he was jogging in central park, he collapsed, they found it in his lungs, he died about 5 months later. The cancer was all over his body im sure.

Bob didn't smoke as much as ppl think. The truth is he usally only did it during his bible studies. Or as protest against marijuana laws, doing it during interviews or on stage. Not saying that i'm an expert or anything but that is what I read in one of his biographies.

 

Its funny to watch all of you guys argue....I saw a documentary and it showed Bob talk about the cancer. He said that he believed someone put a peice of metal, glass or something in his shoe that was infected. He never thought about it when it cut him, and later they found cancer were his foot was cut.

And I've heard some of the versions of the song posted on the internet under Marley and they were clearly sublime..... Knowell and Marley are two of my favorite artists and I don't believe Marley has done the tune, I am gonna look into it tho....PEACE

 

i think someone said it but in case no one caught it... the song was done by the Toyes... they were a white reggae band out of Oregon. it was recorded in 1983. then it was covered again by Sublime. it was never done by Bob Marley. but he would and has done a song about weed before. that really wasnt a big deal. he probably would have written it a little better though. no insult.. Bob just would have made it more of a spiritual thing. cause it [marijuana] is spiritual to rastas. and Bob died a rasta. never denouncing HIM Haile Selassie. And having a bible isnt against Rastafarianism. and he died of cancer, period. it started with an infection in his toe.

He has a few songs that are pretty blunt about smoking herb. Three 0'clock (Road Block)... for one. Along with plenty of smaller references in dozens of songs. But he never did the song Smoke two Joints.

 

"i smoke 2 joints before i smoke 2 joints and then i smoke 2 more.", so before and after 2 comes 2, thats 18 all together. and 6 more, in peace or war, makes 24.

IF you want to take the words literaly, they would describe someone who never ever ever stopped smoking joints. Because before he smoked 2, he'd have to smoke 2. After each joint he smoked, he'd have to smoke two more. So that means that before he could smoke the two joints that he smoked before the other two joints, he'd have to smoke two joints. Or you can say that he would have to smoke two joints after the two joints that he smoked before he smoked the 2 joints before the other two that he smoked after he smoked two joints.
