and held up a piece of paper with the words "I am a deaf person and I am selling these cards to support my family. Please buy one for $2". I didn't see what was on the cards, but they just looked like little business-card-sized greeting cards. I didn't have any cash, so I just drove off I felt bad for him. I wish I would have had some cash on me. I may have even gave him $3.
I've always wondered about those cards. I worked with a deaf elderly man who wrote me notes at work making fun of the boss.LOL. I never understood the purpose of selling the actual cards.
I know, but it's still nice to help people out every once in a while. Maybe he needs the $2 a helluva lot more than I do.
Me too. I have never been envious of people with money though, because I would hate not to know what it feels like to be broke. It would be much harder to fully appreciate the things you have if you don't know what it's like to be without.
We have a man in our town that does that. But he isnt deaf. He just does it to swindle money outta people. :$ Pretty shitty.
you could just give me a lortab to make me feel really nice, no profit, no questions asked. and I'm partially deaf if that counts
Yeah, usually when people do that, they aren't deaf. My cousin ran into one at Wal-Mart when he was in college and he knows fluent sign language, so he started attempting to communicate with him and the guy just kept nodding and smiling, then my cousin got really suspicious and said, "You're not deaf at all, are you?" The guy's face after that gave it all away. Boy, my cousin was pissed, he gave him a good bawling out and turned him into the Wal-Mart management. That's too easy of a scam to fall for...
I feel sorry for people like that too; the only problem is that you don't know who's for real and who isn't. My sister's boyfriend used to go beg like that on the interstate exit and say he was homeless and had no money when he did have a home and he did have money. You just have to be careful.
We used to have a guy who came around the warehouse I worked at who was deaf and dumb. He would try to sell us pencils for $1 each. One day, as he was walking away, I "accidently" dropped a pallet, making a loud noise. The guy flinched. Busted!
