Hey every one, my name is Cody and im from America. Im here to make some friends and learn as much as possible before moving to Amsterdam in about 2 years. There are at least 2 ways for American citizens to come and live legally in the Netherlands without taking the national immigration test. One is to have a company in the Netherlands offer you a job. A most difficult way. Or you can come and open your own business under the Dutch American Friendship Treaty (DAFT). You must have some $ to get started. Either way no test and no requirement to learn Dutch, but I suggest you do take Dutch classes both before you move here and more soon after you get here.

Cody, welcome to the forum! Why don't you tell us more about yourself, like what your interests are, what made you decide to move to A'dam in a couple of years, what your plans are, etc. That might help us give you the advice you need.

Im not day dreaming at all, I may be young but that dosn't mean that I don't think things threw. Any way I have to many intrests to name; music for one I play bass in a band, reading, (yes an american who reads) being around friends, that sort of thing. Any way there are a few reasons I want to make the move, first of all I live in America, (should be reason enough..) where the only culture we have is capitalism, and yes smoking the green has bin part of my life for a long time, about 5 or 6 years( daily for the past few) it's smoked openely in my family. The biggest reason I think is for the people, ive met quite a few people from the dam and they all seem a lot more open minded and intellegent then people here( but im preatty sure thats true of almost anywhere ) I dunno anything else you guys wana know? The only thing I ask is not to judge me before you know me .

Living in america is your reason enough to move.....please do, try Canada first. They will take you in before the dutch. Your living in a cloud of smoke I tell ya. What's up with the "yes an american who reads". What's that suppose to mean...is it something new where your from. I'd say your border line "young and dumb" or just naive. Have you even traveled outside your own home state. Most of the people I know against capitalism are the broke poor ones. Have you even held a job yet? I hope your aware that europe is also into capitalism, but I suppose you think were the only ones.....

Thanks for reminding me of almost everything I love about A'dam, especially the people and their warm, inviting, non-judgmental attitude. It's quite a relief from the atitudes we so often encounter in the States. May peace be with you.

people sometimes need a reality check when their clouded by reefer clouds......nothing to do with attitudes a-dam, truth sometimes hurts

 

why mopperm? did somebody rob you of your dreams when you were a child? do you feel some cosmic karma based need to do the same to others? in my opinion, reality shouldn't have to kick in until you are a legal adult.......


don't get me wrong my friend, your first post was super funny....

but the rest have been a bit nasty and totally negative. don't get me wrong I understand the reality of the situation. but your acting like you'd make a day out of telling children that santa isn't real just for kicks

Well its good to have some support, you would think that a 16 year old "day dreamer" with the dedication to learn a whole new launguage on my own would get just a little respect, to some I guess not, but hey ive always had a barrel of respect for lowly adults trying to put people down half way across the world on the internet. ( and as far as taking it to heart, no worries I didnt, where I come from there are standards for being a man, arguing with 16 year old happens to not be one of them.) Any idiot with a keyboard can say the same thing.

He may only be 16 but he spells better than you LOLOL I think he knows the difference between "they're", "their" and "there" so I guess he's not in too much of a reefer cloud... or maybe he is . I made it to the million question on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire Play it" stoned off my (_[_) at MGM Studios (Disney owns ABC) and the questions and stage are all the same. I beat out over 700 people to get in the hotseat and continued to go against the audience and the phone a friend as I felt I was right both times and they weren't. Only thing that helped me at all was the 50/50, yet I still made it to the million question and believe me the questions weren't easy. I won't say what number I was to make it to that point because that could possibly be found out, however, I will say it was in the low double digits out of millions of people. Potheads aren't stupid or living in a cloud unless they choose to be. It's the drunks that don't know sh*t. All intelligent potheads know that.

 

ok ok people.....i think the message has been communicated to mopperm1 quite clearly. There is no need to take this message to the same level of negative / nasty energy.
