I am very interested in communal living but it seems like so many of the communes I hear about seem so crazy. I'm wondering just actually how many just simple, functioning, HIP communes are out there? I read all about Zendik, talked to people that have been there and this place, for example, is sooo not hip. I understand this is my opinion but that's the look I have gotten on Zendik and quite a few others. So, I'm just wondering about these true hippie communes?
check out http://www.thefarm.org Obviously, a much larger community than Zendik, but it works. I think it's unfortunate that the Zendik's have run their community the way they apparently have. Too many people have come out of there with negative reactions to be discredited. Self-sustainable communal living can work. It's a balanced equation that is possible. The REAL problem with communal living is the people. You need to find the right people.
