Thats it ! Tony blair - or Tony Nomates as he is now known has been shot down by his own backbenchers, (Who knows the real reason why, I suspect he forgot to pay a few of them out of the money his ministers have pocketed from the public purse (for example the £6Billion NHS computer scam)). As of today he no longer commands a place on the world stage, as there is no reason for anyone to deal with him as he has no political sway in his own country. Bye Tony !!!! Hey its you thats drowning, we are waving goodbye as you sink into the sea!! The only thing he now has left to do is set a departure date that satisfies the party or the party will force a general election -(if too many resign there would be a vote of no-confidence) HA HA HA HA ! YOU HAD IT COMING YOU MUPPET !!!! It was soooo sad !!! AS IF - to see the crocodile was almost in tears as he announced he was to step down but did not announce a fixed date. The party has unanimously decided Blair is gone within 8 months - another used sock in the dustbin of history But if you thought Blair was bad, wait till they get the militarist Gordon Brown on the stage in his place !!!!! Gordon Brown will be the one to kick off the proper police state !! He doesnt get photographed a lot in military vehicles for no good reason.
Why is it here in the states when the Presidents cabinet start resigning like Colin Powell, did all our presidents have do is appoint replacements that think more like they do than those resigning? I wish we could hold a vote of no confidence, but then in our two party system it would never happen. We can't even get rid of the bad meat through a legitimate election process. Looked what happenned here in California with the installation of the Governator.
Even in Britain its not quite that simple. The call for a vote of no confidence would have to have a lot of support and 99% of the time it would not be politically wise to call one. 99% of those called are by the opposition and its almost unheard of for a government party MP to call one against his own party. If the vote was carried it would force a general election called by the opposition a better explanation is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vote_of_no_confidence The wisest thing is for the prime minister to resign mid term and hand the power over to his second in command or whoever is voted in by his party. The situation in Britain is that the Labour Party told Blair to step down and make an announcement about when he would hand over power. He delayed this too long and one of his ministers resigned. More threatened to do so and this forced Blair to back down and announce that he would leave in about 8 months. This is not soon enough for many and most want him out of office within 3 months. Blair will be forced to do this - he will not last 8 months because he is now obsoleete on the world stage. Politicians from other countries cannot now negotiate politics with Britain until they are certain who they are dealing with next year. Blair will, I believe go within four months if he holds out longer the Labour party would prefer to call an election than keep him in office. They have stabbed him in the back because Blair is too unpopular. One conspiracy theory that I concocted is that how about if they are playing a game and will force a general election because they can win one now but estimate that in 3 years they will lose - force it early and gain 2 extra years
It's obvious that Blair wants to hang on to his crown until next year because it would be his: 10th anniversary as PM :A similarly epoch-making period as Margaret Thatcher. He wants to go down in history as the PM that Britain kept re-electing. Not the PM that dragged British troops into every single danger-zone he could in order to 'keep-face' with Dubya. Even David Cameron:-the new Tory leader has stated he wouldn't blindly follow a U.S. President with no pre-conditions. Blair was the 'spin doctoring' Prime Minister that has made a personal fortune from his rich sponsors. He is now fermenting 'confusion' & 'dissent' over his projected 'stand down' to make it appear that no single Labour MP can inherit his marvellous legacy when all of Britain knows that Gordon Brown has been capable of taking over at No.10 for the last few years.
well he can say almost what he likes because that man will never be the leader of this country. The truth is that infact most opposition ministers say this but the USA is such a powerful force within Europe but Britain especially that there is really - and I mean in fairness as well - not much that Britain can use as a bargaining chip with the USA - That special relationship infact is real - Because the British ruling class felt so grateful to the USA for its effort in WW2 on our behalf they made a pact amongst themselves to aid the USA in all its dealings - and that is how I believe it should be - fair enough lets bash em about a bit but also I am glad that the worlds largest power is at least not antipathetic toward us. As they are to a large extent with France. well he is thatchers prodigy and a glory boy at that ! couldnt agree more - when thatcher went into office her personal fortune stood at a declared £400,000 or somewhere near that - when she left office she somehow was in the region of £12 Million pounds better off - her husband was inestimably richer as half her stolen goods were in his name. Mark Thatcher made a living off being related to the PM and took cash bribes As well and recently got caught in a Safrican military Coup plot I believe we will see the Blair family being maybe £500,000,000 better off also after thatcher stood down we had Major the grey man is superman underpants is how he was portrayed Turns out he now runs the biggest arms dealership in the world and his fortune is massive
I think this is more a case of the Labour party self destructing. The public is not especially concerned about EXACTLY when Blair leaves - we already know it will be some time next year - so this revolt only makes it look like a party which spends most of its time on internal battles.
