How unusual-- southerners blaming the north and northeners blaming the south.'The more things change, the more they remain the same'.Is that fuckin'war ever going to be over?Guess not.
Yankee here but I'm a Confederate sympathizer. Looking at it, it was a war of northern aggression to beat down state's rights. But I was Union when I reenacted.
ahh, there it is. the ploy of being more intelligent than someone thanks to the ill-conceived notion that someone is ignorant. it is you, i beleive, who is ignorant, and even arogant. to point at someone and brand them before knowing exactly what it is that they represent is known as prejudice, and is the very halmark of ignorance. if you must know, i was born and raised in the military, so i have an understanding of the war that most dont. i realize that the war had almost nothing to do with slavery and even further, i understand that the war was about resources and tactile production, you ignorant bastard. I made the comment about chores merely as a jest, you ignorant bastard, as most people do not understand as i do and i was merely trying to think on their level. Furthermore, i know that the confederates were not defending slavery or even supporting it, but down the years, peoples ignorance have warped history, giving it soap-opera drama. im sorry if i offended you, because that was not my goal. i was merely trying to put a little social humor into play, you ignorant bastard. so, if you could have an open mind, we would all get along much better....you ignorant bastard (if you didnt pick it up, im using ignoran bastard as a means for humor, as well, so dont get all in a tizzy about nothing)
You lost! Get over it allready!!! btw: The South fired the first shot when they fired on Fort Sumter which was Federal property.
The South lost and as a result Southerners have a 140 + year old inferiority complex which would explain why Southerners keep harping about the Civil War. btw: I grew up in the South but an ancestor of mine was a Union General named Lew Wallace. Most people don't remember him for his military skills but for being the author of the book Ben-Hur. i've lived in twelve different states and its interesting to see the differences in the hippies in the various regions. I love my grits and cornbread and that ice tea had better be sweet!
Good thing they hadn't migrated yet(I'm half German ). At the begining of the Civil War a good number of German immigrants where lynched by some Confederates because they remained loyal to the Union. No Federal POW camp ever came close to the horrific conditions at Andersonville.
The union was to give over Ft Sumpter....when they didnt leave what was to be given to the CSA, then they were attacked...as should be expected....Tell the Welsh....and the Scots...and the Southern Vietnamese to get over it too....oh...and since this is a hippy site....Free Tibet...oh wait...fuck em...they lost!
No, the reason (at least in my case) is that we still want what we did then, our own country with stronger government at the state level, nearer the control and influence of individual citizens. I've often thought that the slavery issue was Lincoln's WMD's ...
In most countries people like Jeff Davis and most Conferate Generals would have been summarily executed for treason. In addition most countries woud not allow the Confderate Battle Flag to flown either. In Germany the swastika is illegal so some Neo Nazis have taken to flying the Confederate Batle Flag. The Scots,Welsh, South Vietnamese and Tibetans didn't start the fight but the South did when they attacked Fort Sumter which was Federal property which not slated to be handed over. Try obtaining your history from other sources besides Southern revisionists. The antebellum south was an oligarchial society in which the rich elite ruled the poor masses. Lincoln knew that this society would eventually threaten democracy if it where not checked. The fact is that the Southern establishment was moving toward a class based system of slavery in which poor whites would hae been enslaved along with the black folks. At the time of Lincoln's election the South controlled the Congress as well as the Supreme Court as evidenced by the Dred Scott case. Lincoln also knew that if he allowed the US to be split it would disintegrate into a bunch of weak warring nation states like Europe. btw: TN folks have a joke that goes like this.. Q: Where the best place top be in Mississippis. A: The middle 'cause either way you're going you're leaving!
The South seceeded....it was constitutional....the north attacked an independant country...plain and simple....UNITED STATES implies just that..states that are united under one government...those states still have their own rights....and have the right to leave said union on will... But the Union couldnt have that....it was in those days that the US started towards what it is today.....
The Civil War happened 140 years ago, get over it. If you're really such a rebel, then do something. With that said though, I voted Confederate even though I don't care for either.
I hate that attitude.....get over it? I dont sit in my home daily and curse the oppressor from a war over a century old...but its effects are seen today...its not like the war happened and all was hunky dory....and i will defend my ancestors cause against the northern propoganda.... Even today, there is a states rights issue...Looks at California...legal medical pot...but the Feds are arresting state funded growers and putting them in prison for it....States rights never gets old man...its a cause that every state should fight for....not just the southern ones...but fine...let your beloved federal government run our lives....
You must have never read any of my other post if you think I love the Federal gov't. Quiz: There is only one state in the Union that retained the Right of Secession as a condition of admission to the United States. Answer? Alabama? Miss. SC NC etc etc... ??? Nope the correct answer is(drum roll) Vermont!
i dont think the number is as high as 90% i grew up in south florida in a small town LaBelle home of the swamp cabbage festivle LOL...but im not a racist and none of my friends growing up were either. most of my hispanic friends ended up with white girls and most of my white friends ended up with hispanic girls. as for my self i married a black dominican girl... but i did then and i still do think if i were alive back then i would fight for the C.S.A. i dont like big goverment never have and never will... but states rights was the main issue and yes slavery was one of the biggest state issues of the time just not the only issue. http://www.civilwarhome.com/confederatecauses.htm
