Wow. Seems like I am not alone here. I also deleted my free Norton trial when I first bought my computer. It was the most annoying program with all it's pop ups. And also, I went to using AVG as well. But let me say this. I had a problem just over a month ago. I suspected a virus but my AVG daily scan did not show anything. So I decided to download another free anti virus program. It is called Avira AntiVir. After downloading, I did a scan with it and it showed and deleted two viruses that AVG never detected. I was always happy with AVG and still am, but now I use both these programs to scan my computer daily. I guess you can never have to much protection, but I agree, Norton is just a very annoying pain.

    Norton Antivirus is selfpromotion wares
It is notoriously dificult to get rid of. I work as a network consultant and
sysadmin, and every-now-and-then someone puts norton on their computer and it totally wrecks it. Once its installed you either have to edit the registry to get it out (not wise unless you know exactly what you are doing) or I believe there are norton uninstallers you can get around the web, but careful where you get those huh? Norton used to be a good program maybe 4 or 5 years ago but now I cant even tell if it stops viruses anymore

No believe me its a problem even if you update - the amount of popups, warnings, false positives that software gives - the stuff is a full time job in itself. Best idea - wipe the operating system and reinstall without it - then get either AVG or a commercial program like Bit Defender

Norton does get really annoying, but i have the option of reminding every 15 days so i dont bother with it much.

I used to have Norton on my computer a few years ago and not only was in not functional in detecting viruses (Kaspersky kicked it's ass), was annoying, and it even prevented me from using my Windows 98SE recovery disc. Nowadays I try to get rid of it as fast as I can.

Norton "Anti-Virus" is about as useful as an umbrella under the sea.

This is the most painless way I've done to get rid of Norton: Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Remove Norton
