This could be controversial! I'm going to go for Revenge of the Sith. While the original trilogy is arguably streets ahead of the prequels in many ways, I love the politics of episodes two and three, so many parallels to the real world - and Ian McDiarmid steals the show completely in Sith. The Emperor was always my favourite character and although Jedi was previously my favourite film, he's even better in Sith. The only thing that lets the film down (apart from the appalling dialogue, which is present in all 6 films - George Lucas can't write!) is that it's almost entirely CGI. I liked the gritty sets and the dirty surroundings of the original trilogy. But my vote still goes for Sith. How about you?
Now keep in mind I really hate Star Wars, but I've been forced many times to sit down and the watch all of the movies, and the one I hated the least was actaully Return Of the Jedi. I really don't know why, I just love the old school bad special effects I guess....
when i was young i remember sayin to me arlfella i wish i could have been shot up into space " he replied yer would of been if i had"nt of been pissed .
Sal! You forgot to put the Star Wars Holiday Special there Actually, it doesn't matter, since nobody would vote that as the best Star Wars film I was going to go for New Hope or Empire, but the more I think about it, there are a lot of scenes in Jedi that I like. The scenes with Luke and the Emperor are good...I think Lucas has a knack for good villains, which might have been the problem with the prequels...Anakin was still a Jedi (more whiny than evil ) and Palpatine didn't get a chance to shine until Revenge Of The Sith. "And now, young Skywalker...you will die"...one of my favourite scenes in the entire series.
I'm nearly finished on the Special Edition of Kelso Wars. It's the same story, with additions and enhancements that my original budget wouldn't stretch to. In time honoured tradition, fans and critics will hate it and I'll destroy all the copies of the original, only to re-release them about one decade afterwards for more money
Hahahaha! That's great satire, and pretty close to the mark. Have you seen that Supershadow site? What do you make of it?
New Hope, cos it was first. Empire, cos it's dark and adult. Jedi, because the lightsaber and spaceship battles are the biggest and the best. The less said about the recent three, the better.
The recent three were a bit of a let down. I still find them quite watchable... Wey, watchable may be as good as it gets for 'The Phantom Menace' but it had Qui Gon and Darth Maul, fighting no less! Aswell as that, Yoda fighting in 'Attack of the Clones' was rather awesome But it has to be 'Empire Strikes Back' for me...But that's chance to change come tomorrow as I'm actually re-watching the trilogy at the moment...Luke has just found Yoda in the swamp Exciting!
i liked a new hope the best, simply because i remember first watching the original triology and they all just blew me away. but i dunno the Hoth battle is my favorite battle. so fuck it the last three are just fucking awesome. i wish they never made the the prequils. and im really not looking forward to the next three
There are planned plots to the next three? Do tell. I reckon if Lucas made the next three, he'd be just as well taking them directly from the Thrawn tirolgy by Timothy Zahn. They'd be so good as a film
Ah.. I thought 7 8 and 9 had been forgotten... I first heard mention of them as Episode I was in production, and kept wondering why the idea of 9 Star Wars movies stopped being buzzed about... The reason I dislike the the newest three is almost the same reason I struggle with Star Trek - Enterprise.. That the special effects make the era those movies were set in totally out of time with the "middle three" as I'd already started calling them.. And to think the original Star Wars was not expected to do well at all...
Haha, Yoda...Funny guy I'm just watching the original trilogy. Some friends and I started all six not too long ago, but for one reason or another we never got to 'A New Hope'. I did think about going right back to the start, but I just couldn't wait to see the old ones!
