ok so i myself have never done mush, but my cousin went hunting a few months ago and brought back like 2 1/2 large ziplocks full of shrooms so me and a bunch of friends have decided to go this weekend but we need a little help cause im not a shroom expert. I live in Victoria BC and from what i know shrooms grow naturally(and this is suppose to be mushroom season.. September), so we are heading up to the highlands to raid some farms. so what I understand is they come out of cow shit around 5am? and they are the highest around 6? then they go back down once it gets humid out or whatever? and is there any other kinds of mushrooms that grow where mush grows? or should i be picking everyone i see?
in the forest look for woodchips , old wood and stuff ya know. Also douglas pines You could find the strongest of em all in BC You can also find em in public areas in woodchips and stuff.
ok thanks.. ive been looking at erowid a little bit but what species should i be looking for(like what are most common in the wild or whatever)? and is it true that they come up at 5am in cow shit and then they go down once it gets to a certain temp. or something?
all i can say is do some research or buy a book before you go out hunting. cuz if you pick the wrong kind it could be lethal.
I sincerely doubt it. They do grow in cow shit, but i'm positive they don't "go down" back into the cow shit once it gets to a certain temperature. Look in woodchip areas, on sloped ground, near water, under trees. I found around three hundred just growing plain in the grass in some dudes front garden. Needless to say there's none there now :H If i were you i'd bring an experienced mushy picker along with you, or at the very least have one look them over before you eat any of them. As a general rule look for shrooms with hints of blue and/or silver colouring.
we'll if your looknig around the cow pastures, you'll probly find psilocybe cubensis, thats that kind thats grow from cow shit, so you'll probly want to know what those look like before you go on your hunting trip.
