What type of movie had you rather watch? Social Commentary (Easy Rider, To Kill A Mockingbird, etc.) Escapist Entertainment (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, etc.) I'd Rather Watch MTV like a fucking pussy loser...please kill me
Social Commentaries are my favs. : A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, SCHINDLER'S LIST, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, EASY RIDER, etc... are much better to me than things which are just there to make us escape...although I do enjoy a good escapist film from time to time as well!
I also like social commentaries. I definitely wouldn't watch mtv. I might watch an escapist film depending upon my mood.
id probably rather eat 100 boxes of cereal, huff computer cleaner, and smoke foot fungus cream, than watch MTV.
While I don't dig Star Wars, I love fantasy "escapist" flicks. Big beautiful costumes, fantastic storylines, elaborate special effects, magic and enchantment. Sign me up!
i voted escapist, but now that i think about it, it makes no difference to me. i just like good movies that make you think, laugh, or both
Is it just me or does anyone else find this thread ridiculous... Maybe from a 13 year old who focuses on being like the people who think they are being themselves but cmon man. A good movie is a good movie, Dawn of the Dead[2004]? Is that an escapist? social commentary? or mtv 'pussy' flick?
Social commentary all the way….. Escapist Entertainment such as star wars sux, (sorry to any fans but come on) and don’t get me started to mtv
Hey, Blade Runner is nothing to throw rocks at. But overall, I'm an escapist at heart. I can enjoy social commentary at times, but usually I want to get away from mankind's problems. That's why I live without any kind of tv hookup except to my DVD player. I'll usually watch The Adventures of Baron Munchausen or The Princess Bride or Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit... something I can kick back and let it make me smile.
It depends on the mood I'm in. Most of the time I would vote for social commentary, but there are days when I'd just like to watch something really escapist. If I can find a good movie that does both, I'm really happy.
