people in my parents town are all upset about the city council allowing a pamida store to buy land in town. these people are protectionists and think its going to hurt the downtown stores. funny thing is, more and more stores keep closing in this town because everyone is shopping out of town at the walmarts 30 miles away.... there are two walmarts the same distance in each direction....... and pamida stores are so much different than walmart....... the pamida should draw more people to town, and keep people from going out of town to shop at walmart.
here downtown is a a historic district,so new development aint allowed unless its goverment approved. an quite frankly, there just aint no room tween the river an the mountain in town..,thats what they got east towne for, they allow the city to move in over in east towne,,an it sucks..
pamida is the devil i used to live in a tiny american town where the only big box store was a pamida. the quality of the products totally sucketh and the customer service left much to be desired. maybe the protectionists in your town need to work on some kind of strategy to lure locals into shopping at the small indy stores in town. some places have started their own currency, to keep the money circulating locally. google barter bucks, it's kind of a neat idea. eta theres a difference between being proactive and reactive. reactive is protesting the pamida. proactive would be doing something to bolster the local economy and support local business.
I don't even know what pamida is. I lived in a tiny ass town for awhile. But was so tiny that there weren't any stores at all. The only commercial enterprises of any kind were a horse dealership and a hair salon.
exactly. they need to take competition and run with it. obviously everyone is buying shit out of town, everytime I come home, another store has shut down on main street. why not bring people into town, and keep people here? theyll compare prices with pamida, and decide to get it downtown instead. all people are doing now is driving 30 miles to shop at walmart.
pamida stores are strictly here in the midwest. Ive only seen them in nebraska...... they are like kinda like walmart... they sell almost anything
Haha. We have Pamidas in South Dakota too. They're such sad little stores. Everytime I go into one I kind of want to walk up to the register and give them $20...ya know, just to help out. Alcos too. Both kind of make me want to commit suicide.
