So this is not mysterious, but it is weird and bizzare; at least from my perspective. There are people on this forum who do things like drive cars and make babies who missed literally ALL of the 80's. Seriously, that's bizzare. I'll make a great grumpy old man in forty years, maybe even sooner.

Look, for all of its drawbacks the 80's had style, and not just stlye but style. The 90's on the other hand didn't have shit. All that the 90's had was "well, thank God it's not the 80's anymore" and that got real old real fast.

yes it had style-horrible horrible style. women with HUGE shoulders and itty-bitty waists have horrible style. pple who wear dayglo have horrible style. legwarmers are disgusting. off-the shoulder sweatshirts are ugly. sweatshirts are ugly. aviator sunglasses are stupid. members-only jackets are only for members of the bad fashion club.
as for events: the berlin wall fell, thats about it. it was a loud, tacky meaningless decade that had taken the drug culture a bit too far.

Yes, but the 80's had style, they had flair, they had personality while the 90's had the personality of a toaster, and the style of an accountant. And Aviator sun glasses will always be totally boss.

It's a paradox that the decade I respect the least is the decade I remember the most:The 1980s.
Going back to the point of the topic; the younger generation seems to be adult with an adult perspective by their mid-teens.I lament the fact that the 'teen-age' years have lost their mystique & innocence that existed from the 1940s-1970s.
How many songs & films were based on 'teen-age angst'?countless.
I think we should bring back the notion that you aren't an adult until you are 21.Let the childhood years run their full course because the adult world is devoid of the facination & fantasy of early life.

I think the point he is making is interesting. we have these kids driving cars, making babies.. living with their parents or collecting welfare. shouldn't they be on a farm working their asses off?

What helter said. The 80's were weird and freaky and awsome. Sure we had Regan and everybody was materialistic, but no decade is all good. Hell, I'd argue that the 60's and 70's probably had more that sucked than the 80's did. Granted I wasn't around for the 60's or 70's (well I did get 6 months of the 70's, but that don't count) but still I'd be willing to make a wager on it.

I wore a lot of Tye dye in the 80's, The Dead were touring like mad.

Where in the world would they get that idea from, certainly not their parents.

Anyway, the 80's did have style, the 90's were kinda anti-style, but I still don't see the point.

The point was that it is odd that some people who missed all of the 80's can now drive cars legaly and are physically mature enough to have babies.

The point now is that the 80's were great, and probably had fewer things that sucked than the 60's and 70's did.
