Heard I should drop em in a bottle of water or moist paper towels, not sure which to use though, it's my first grow
The paper towel method works well as does putting them straight into the soil about 1 cm deep. They must be kept warm and moist. If planting striaght into the soil try covering with a plastic cup or the like. You can buy kits for germinating seeds you get a seed tray with a plastic dome cover and some soil. If your just starting read up as much as you can.
Nah as you put it in one thread I've already "read till my eyes bleed" and some sites give different info so i like to check here with real people so i dont fuck up lol I'm growin in a small closet with about a 46" flouro light so I'm gonna see how it goes.
ive found that the best way to germ. the seeds is to get a paper towl take a spray bottle of water and spray about half of it arrang your seeds about a half inch appart in rows and coulums then fold the other half over spray that then get a sandwich baggie or sumthing like that and spray the inside then fold the paper towl so it will fit inside then seal the seeds inside and place on a window sill in the sun every day i usally re spray them i get pretty fast results that way
Some people put them in water first - whether they sink or float blah- blah-blah! the debate goes on!!! Some people like to pre-soak in water prior to germing in an effort to speed up the process. I don't do either - this is how I do it: You will need the following: a spray-bottle/distilled water, a plate or dish, a couple of paper towels, clear plastic wrap and a "warm place", oh yeah - and some seeds!!! 1. Take one paper towel and fold it in half - three or four times. Center it in the plate or bowl and spray it untill it lays down evenly (it may take a little poking). 2. Arrange your seeds on top of the paper towel in an orderly fashion. Cut the other paper towel so that a single layer will cover the "seed pad" (it can hang over like a tiny bedspread - that's ok). Carefully center the top, single, layer over the seed pad. Now spray untill the paper towels are saturated and there is a little extra water puddled up in the bottom of the plate. Not enough to flood the seed pad; just enough to "collect" a few drops if you tip the plate to one side a little. The object is to keep the seeds moist not waterlogged. 3. Next the clear plastic wrap cover; it goes on like a drumhead around the rim of the plate. It doesn't really need to be air tight, it's more to slow down the evaporation than to prevent it. 4. Put the plate in a warm (not hot) place. Warm room temperature is good! On top of a piece of electronic equiptment that stays warm or a fish aquarium is ideal!! 5. Check the seeds several times a day by removing the plastic wrap and the single layer paper towel, add more water when necessary. When the little white "tap root" pops out; that seed is ready!!! Don't wait; the longer the sprout becomes the more delicate it is to work with!!! Options: If you germinate often you may want to use a transparent or transluscent shallow container with a lid instead of a plate or bowl and a plastic wrap cover - it's just easier to open and close back up several times a day. I just use 2 plates of different sizes - actually I use 2 flat Pyrex tops. The seeds don't need light to germinate; under the surface of the soil they do quite well in the dark - intense light will burn the "tap root"!!!
