I believe that music a a driving force behind everything I do. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. I consider myself to be very open with music. I'm into a lot of different types of music and was just wopndering if you guys had any suggestions as to what I could listen to to expand the variety already in my iTunes library.
Well, what do you already have or normally listen to. Im sure I can come up with some obscure tunes for you. Off the top of my head, go with Big Country or Stomping Ground, by Bela Fleck.
I guess supplying what I listen to already. I have a lot of White stripes and flaming lips. I'm looking for obscure shit really. Things that go under the radar and are really good. I've heard good things about Streetlight Manifesto but no one ever realyl said what type of music it was
Listen to Ben Harper. Not just burn one down yea that's cool and everyone likes him and knows him for that song cuz it's about weed but his other material is pure gold. His music seriously changed my life.
Never listened to ben harper before. I really hope that people will post what they like in this thread. Music is my entire life. My goal is to get a huge library of music for when winter comes, get blazed and go for a kick ass walk
If you listen to Ben Harper try the albums "Burn to Shine" and "Diamonds on the Inside". Those are my two favorites. His latest album (Both Sides of the Gun) is pretty decent as well.
check out Medeski Martin & Wood they are a Jazz/Trance... they mix everything together... im not really into ambient/trance type music... but these guys are bad ass
nah man listen to anything by radiohead or pink floyd definitly but i guess thats a given... i enjoy hendrix alot while trippin' and definitly some blind melon (esp. "I Wonder", "Holyman", and "Mother")....Neil Young has some sweet stuff too man, me and my friends just usually chill in my basement, smoke joints and listen to Neil Youngs "Harvset Moon" on vinyl ("Alabama", "The Needle and the Damage Done", "Words)......wooo
blind melon is definately a good choice as well.... don't knock MMW until you've tried it either.. i never ever liked trance... but these guys are pretty damn good.. keeps my attention.. they mix so many different ganres together its unreal
I have a lot of bands from the 60s and 70s I could recommend to you, or some cool chill Jazz jam stuff. But from seeing from the type of music you are looking for I don't know if you'd want them. But if you do then I'll post some bands...
Well, here are a lot of my favorite bands for one. I'd say just download a bunch of songs by each and see what you think of them (That is if you have the space on your computer, hehe). I'll even add my favorite album by them if that helps Led Zeppelin (I actually love all albums by them. But Led Zeppelin I & IV are awesome) Jimi Hendrix ("Electric Ladyland") Beatles ("Magical Mystery Tour" and "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" of course) Crosby,Stills Nash, And Young ("Deja Vu" of course) The Doors (Their First album "The Doors" is classic, and "Strange Days" is very cool) Cream ("Disraeli Gears") Pink Floyd (Of course "Dark Side Of the Moon", but other then being cliche, "Pipers at the Gates of Dawn" is really strange and psychedellic cause it's their first album so Syd Barret is in it, hehe) Aerosmith (I really like "Rocks" Cause it's just good old Classic Rock) Red Hot Chili Peppers (Their new album "Stadium Arcanium" is really good) Jefferson Airplane ("Surrealistic Pillow" and "Crown of Creation" Greatful Dead (Mostly their live stuff is the best, but "Grateful Dead", "American Beauty" and "Workingman's Dead" is good stuff) The Moody Blues ("Questions of Balance") Now i'll just post a bunch of other bands I listen to, so here's another list to help REALLY expand your music, hehe. AC/DC Alice Cooper The Allman Bothers Band Arlo Guthrie Black Sabbath Cat Stevens Creedence Clearwater Revival David Bowie Dire Staits The Doobie Brothers Eagles Foriegner George Thorogood The Guess Who Guns N' Roses Heart Iron Butterfly Jeff Beck Jethro Tull Lynyrd Skynyrd Morrissey Peter Frampton Queen The Rolling Stones Rush Santana Scorpions Steve Miller Band Supertramp Ted Nugent Tenacious D Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Van Halen Wes Montgomery ( Really good Jazz guitarist from the 50s and 60s) The Who ZZ Top
JACK JOHNSON! Man alive...i love jack johnson...we listen to it *constantly* at work. we love to crank it so everyone in the cafe can hear it! (I work at a coffee shop). Not only is the music good and relaxing but the lyrics are incredible; I consider jack johnson one of the best lyricists of all time.
i listen to everything and try not to be too bias, but most current country i cant stand. i can really dig older country music, but this new-age pop-country shit is retarded. the songs have no meaning nor depth about anything, so i think they should just stop the whole country thing, because it will never be the same.
