Hello, I'm a new member to these so called 'hip' forums. I'm a senior at a college in Ohio. Originally from Alabama, ya'll. I joined primarily for the drug-oriented forums, and that's probably where I'll spend most of my time. A question: Being 22, does that make me an old man in these parts? My school is noted for its connection to the New Criticism, particulary with one figure whose name you could abbreviate with the letters JCR. If you can figure out where I go all by yo self, and you're chill, and perhaps have some love to spread around for a reasonable price (we're dyin' here), maybe I can work something out. Is it your first time in the city? Try to find a bar called the Garage, its real sweet but you need a tolerance for hipsters. Wonderful restaurants there, definitely try Taj India (near The Garage, both near 'five points', which you'll discover soon enough after moving there). Alabama is fortunate to have 'Milo's', a burger joint that has the best god damn fast food you'll ever have, if you're a meat-eater that is. Let me know if you have any questions about the city, it's a real nice town. Big yuppie growth recently, which means lots of good food and nice quaint areas for the mid-upper class folks; fortunately Birmingham is making wonderful strides towards balancing the race-income equation with mixed income housing and such. It's really a cool place. Have fun while you're there. I'll be back there in December some time.
No it's not my first time, a lot of my family lives in Alabama. I haven't actually been to five points, but I've heard it's a cool area, I was planning on trying to get a job there. I really can't wait to go because Ravi Shankar and Joan Baez are playing at UAB in October Thanks for the info
