I'm not really into grindcore, but check out Despised Icon. I believe they're new. I also believe they're French.

The Berzerker, aussie death metal/grindcore that's gonna deafen you. try "pain", "forever" and "massacre" to begin with... it gets seriously heavier though. a drummer who can do 16 beats per second with one hand. says it all really.

Yeah, don't like Deicide either, they're more on the death metal side. It's just that I fucking love Pig Destroyer but they aren't strictly grindcore. Trying to find other bands that may have a similar vibe ie grindcore style music without stupid cookie-monster death metal vocals.

Ah, Pig Destroyer - legendry. I reckon the vocals in it are very Death Metal-esque though. PD are quite original, but try:-

CATTLE DECAPITATION (they are fucking MINT)

    also:-
Dying Fetus, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Estury, Disinter, God Among Insects, Benumb, Converge, Krisiun, Cannibal Corpse, Crytopsy, The Dillinger Escape Plan.

There's a song of theirs I used to have on my P.C. and it was one of the best songs I've heard. Unfortunatley, my P.C. got formatted after encountering a virus and I didnt catch the title of it. I'll be hard pushed to find that again.

Well I did say modern, so ND and Carcass are the founders of the genre back in oldern times.

Unfortunately I haven't found any of the other new bands mentioned to my taste really, only the one's I knew already. But thanks to to y'all for tryin ;)
