Pastor burns the portraits of Hindu gods Posted August 22, 2006 Deccan Chronicle Mydukur, Aug. 21: Leaders of Viswa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh demanded that the police take stern action against the pastors and father of a church, who allegedly burnt the portraits of Hindu gods at Vanipenta in Kadapa district on August 18. They threatened that they would intensify their agitation if cases were not booked against the Christians. Following a complaint by these leaders, the police registered a case against the Christian pastors and father, said circle-inspector Harinatha Reddy. The activists led by RSS Zilla Pramukh T Venkateswarlu, district joint secretary B.R. Venkataramana staged a rasta roko at Mydukur on Monday. The leaders alleged that the Christian religious organisations were resorting to religious conversions for the past so many years. They eyed several Dalitwadas for their religious conversions and as part of it, they organised a meet on August 18 and converted some Hindus into Christians. On the occasion, they reportedly set fire to some portraits of Hindu gods on the premises of the church, they alleged. However, Komara Venkata Ramana, Dumme Pedda Venkanna and G. Venkoji Rao of Vanipenta brought the issue to their notice, the leaders said.
yah, maybe jokes is the way to stop them... why did the catholic priests go to k-mart? they heard the boys pants were half off
Hate? Please try to rather feel sorry for such an ignorance in this person. Hate does not cure his ignorance and most certainly does not create a good karma!
Do we have to stop them? If so, we could only do that with words. That is what I think. Bye the way, I know a lot of "good" christians that lead a peaceful and loving life. They won´t gain liberation, but they do not harm others! By the way this is the same with many muslims, buddhists I know. Unfortunately I do not personally know any people of other religions - but I would suggest it is similar with them.
They should protest to burning of posters of Hindu deities, but they should not burn Jesus pictures, that does not really solve anything. If they went to the police to report it, then thats good, and is the proper thing to do. Oh yea, if however the police don't do anything, they should conduct a non-violent protest.
We have to stop them, just like we have to stop the burning of Jesus pictures and burning of koran, we have a responsibility to stop adharma. dude, i disagree with you here, you don't have to be "hindu" to gain enlightenment, buddha did, jesus did, some say muhammad did, so you get the point.
would you say the right to stop adharmic practices supercedes rights of freedom of speech and freedom of expression?
Mmm...though what they did was wrong...no one ever said two wrongs made a right. And it def. takes 3 lefts to make one (bad joke). lol. Poor Lord Jesus...the things done in His name...
Sorry, misunderstanding here! Those I know, will not gain liberation because even if they do not harm others in any way they still mainly live for this (material) life.
If you were to react by burning pics of Jesus you'd just be showing your own stupidity and the fact that you yourself were on a level very similar to that of the so called 'christians' who do that sort of thing. Here in the Uk I doubt they'd get away with it now, as there are new laws concerning stirring up religious hate. Burning a picture BTW is not in my view an expression of free speech - it's more like the actions of the nazis.
i agree that burning sacred pictures is a hate crime a few years ago in the states they had parking lots with steamrollers driving over dixie chicks cd's with some folks making the comparison to nazis and their bookburnings
Yes, nothing is above righteousness. If by one's speech , one tends to create violence and hatred , then that person should be stopped. There are three gates to hell, and anger/hate is one of them.
I agree, but would rather say I guess it is a cruel way of expressing one´s ignorance! Also, (just a tick off-topic, but astonishing anyhow) there are still people in this country, that support ignorant people which are full of hate. There are state (similar to county - for you Bill ) elections next weekend in the very northeast of Germany. The way it looks at the moment, there is a very high risk that a neo-nazi Party will be elected into the states parliament, by more than 30,000 people! Even though they are still a minority, I can not believe just how ignorant people can be .
That's disturbing Pronature - I hope the neo-nazis don't do as well as predicted. Incidentally, the whole thing of burning images or books one doesn't like is nothing new. In 213 B.C. the Chinese emperor Ch'in Shih Huang Ti ordered the burning of all copies of the Confucian classics - only the I Ching survived to come down to us to-day. It failed to quell the Confucian influence on Chinese culture, and just resulted in the loss of what may have had great value for us all.
We will know more on Sunday night. If there´d be more people going to vote in the elections, the risk would be smaller. Unfortunately, the situation in Germany is that the rich are getting richer since the mid-eighties and the average and poorer people continiously getting poorer. That fact makes some ignorant people seeking refuge with the facists and more people do not vote at all, because they are disappointed. As I don´t see any real changes in politics, I am not very optimistic regarding short- and mid-term elections. Let´s hope I´m wrong! I know! There is even older examples from Egypt, where Thutmosis the 3rd had a lot of hieroglyptic inscriptions destroyed.
burning pictures of jesus or other gods will contribute to global warming so its not a good thing to do
I think SvgGrdnBeauty quote sums up a nice reaction to Christian preachers, "God came to my house and asked for charity. And I fell on my knees and cried, 'Beloved, what may I give?' 'Just love,' He said. 'Just love.' "-St. Francis of Asissi
