here she is thus far - advice?

I know nothing about anything, about how much longer would someone guess this plant has to go? Cold weather is threatening the region in the next few days - constructing a tent, but there's no telling if it will warm up again after this weekend or not. I'm guessing she's got weeks to go, but like I said, I know nothing about anything.

 

It depends what strain it is but I would guess at least six weeks. Why not build a green house.

 

I agree with buffoonman, approx. 5--6 weeks.
Call a local plant nursery and ask when the first hard freeze of the year usually is.
This can be labor-intesive depending on how tall & bushy your plants are, but if less stealth isn't too much a concern you could construct a tepee of sticks and plastic over each plant.

 

I have no idea what strain this is -
the date of the average first freeze is Sept 15, tomorrow. We're supposed to get snow accumulation by Sunday...
I don't know if serious cold weather will hold off for 5 or 6 weeks out here.
I was thinking of building the tepee and am now considering a small greenhouse, she's just one lonely plant and fairly small so it shouldn't be too hard. I hope warmer weather returns after this cold snap - it's supposed to be lows in the 30s through early next week at least.

How much cold can a plant take? If the overnight low is in the 30s should I leave her covered during nights with the tepee or greenhouse?

 

what about transplanting it into an indoor bucket for the duration of her life, do you think that would be too much of a shock to her? I have a south facing bathroom with a big window and a sunroom, could this be done without too much shock?

 

Transplanting a near full sized plant already growing in the ground is next to impossible. Building some kind of greenhouse would be much easier!!! If you can, squeeze in a small "kerosine" type heater - it will add extra co2 and cause wonderful things to happen - as well as fighting off "Jack Frost". Just be careful not to scortch the plant.

 

damnn haha snow in september!!?!? even here in jersey we dont get snow till late december/janruary. on halloween you can walk around in short sleeves and shorts. shit my pools gonna be open for another 2 weeks at least.

 

I live in northern Montana on the North Dakota border just south of Canada. It gets down to 30 below zero by january out here whereas New Jersey is near the ocean which keeps temps moderate. I live very near the center of the North American continent where the most extreme weather occurrs, extremely hot summers 110 F and extremely cold winters. Weather changes very quickly out here, we're the frist to get hit with the cold fronts trucking down out of the Yukon this time of year.

I am from South Carolina, the land of everlasting summer, so I kind of enjoy the changes of the seasons, they are very dramatic.
