I have acid reflex, so bad so that I literally spit up phlem every other minute, the doctor gave me a script of prilosec but that isn't helping, I go back to my doctors next week where he'll stick a tube down my throat to check my stomach out. I find myself getting depressed lately because I'm so tired of spitting up, I could live with the heart burn. Is there any known cure, I'd be so grateful.

It sounds like they'll have to try you on a different medication. I dont know of a cure, but there are some investigational surgeries out there. The acid coming up on the esophageal wall leads to long term problems like strictures and possibly cancer. So, it's important to keep it under control.

That sounds bad.. definately follow up with the doctor... really should go over everything you eat to see if something is triggering it, may need a diet change... stress can also be triggering it....

but definately follow up with the doc to rule out anything internal that may be wrong..

I know raw cabbage juice (juiced in a juice machine, fresh) can actualy heal ulcurs. My mom and I have both used that and it worked... also, pure aloe vera. Peppermint oil can help with upset stomaches, but I dont think its good for reflux...
there are other natural remedies that could help but I cant think of them offhand and dont take my word on anything...

hopefully the doctor will rule out anything serious and you will be able to find relief through diet changes

yea im in the same boat as ya....... i couldnt sleep at night because everytime i layed down it intensified... i tried prilosec.. the purple shit all kinds of stuff and i had the scope thing done... u wont feel a thing.... what my doctor prescribed me to now is 20 mg aciphex which i take once a day and 1 gm ic sucralfate that i take 3 times a day..... i rarely get heartburn... but if i stop taking it it comes back.... also caffeine alcohol nicotine are some of the worst things for u... what is probably happening in your stomach is the muscle in your throat doesnt close all the way and it lets the acid out best of luck!!!!!!

scwhahead is right, its your valve that doesnt work properly. Theyll stick the microscope down your throat (youll be asleep fcourse), probly find not very much redness at the part where your stomach connects to your esophagus. If you really want, i think theres a procedure/surgery they can do to fix your valve so stomach acids wont rise through it, and burn your esophgus. But i am barely 21 yrs old, have had acid reflux since i was probly 16 and they didnt find any redness/reasons to be worried in me. Nexium (purple pill) was the strongest meds i took and they worked pretty well, but my doc just told me to take prilosec instead. Nexium is a lil stonger but i rarely get burn from prilosec

    Hope this helps, peace
