without trying to provoke an arguement, i responded to "Rating them how you see fit is still under-rating the band". just minutes before, i claimed "i rate them how i see fit". therefore your comment was obviously directed at me. but yeh, peace.
Well, I listened to more than a few songs, even saw them live. And I don't think I said they suck. I just don't have anything with their music. Also, I think a rating isn't only based on how talented a band is. You can question my love for true metal indeed, it's about a band, album or the music, not the genre. 'True metalheads' can suck my dick.
One thing I would say about megadeth is that they weren't consistantly good. Albums like So far, so what, fucking awful album. But Rust in Peace, fucking classic.
Its not about a band, its about the music made by a band. The very music that was and still is key to the thrash and speed metal genres. Why would true metalheads be sucking your dick?
i think he means those that have a preference in metal artists and claim they are true metalheads, putting aside bands that they do not refer to as metal (even though they are). and what a silly question to ask - i'm pretty sure he said that metaphorically - as in doesn't give a fuck about these kinda people.
a true metalhead would simply be someone who really does like metal, and isnt just a poseur. Awaiting his reply to determine just what he meant by his gesture.
So you question someone's love for 'true metal' if he doesn't like the song Holy Wars ...The Punishment Due by Megadeth, or anything by Megadeth? That's quite a typical 'true metalhead' statement. And of course I ment that metaphorically, I wouldn't appreciate a true metalhead sucking on my penis. By the way, I never said Megadeth sucks, I just don't like their music. Man... who's acting like a poseur here?
Now I question your ability to read. I said that if you could listen to that song and say that the band sucks, I'd question your love for metal. Why? To me, this song represents just about everything metal should be. Who's acting like a poseur? The person who seems to care whether or not someone questions thier love for metal.
Haha, I don't care about the metalgenre at all, even though I like some metal. How can I be considered a poseur then. I rather not be considered as a metalhead. I just thought it was a curious line from you. There are quite a few metalheads that thinks Megadeth suck, but that's not even the point. It just weird to doubt someone's love for metal if they don't like that song or band. It is indeed YOUR definition of everything metal stands for. Megadeth bores me to death.
Don't get me wrong, I love music from quite a lot metalbands and I also use some genre-names sometimes to define what a bands sounds like (because it helps). But I don't care about the genre and what people think of it or not. There's also a lot of metal that I couldn't care less about, especially death metal. I'm not saying death metalbands suck, but I don't like a thing about it. Same with Megadeth. Sorry i'm not a true metalhead!
Hmm, reading back on this, I left out an important word.. THRASH Sure, people who don't particularily like thrash or speed probably wouldn't think too much of Megadeth, even those who do like those genres might not like them, but that doesn't take anything away from their ability to play. I find it weird that someone who doesn't care about metal at all has held such a lengthy conversation about something so uninteresting if they don't care about it at all. Ah well.
I care about the music, but it's clear I've a different taste then you. I'm not doubting people's love for metal if they don't like black metal like me (which is the purest form of metal and has everything metal stands for blabla). I think you got my point by now and I was happy to explain.
Now that you've realized we have different tastes in music, and that I'll doubt people's love for metal as I like, I'll return to my original statement. Megadeth are an under-rated band.
Dude, you just said you don't care about the metal genre at all, just "like" a few metal bands.. You've just completely contradicted yourself.
