Does anyone here live in Athens? I'm going on a trip there in mid-September. I'll be all alone so if anyone wants to hang out let me know. I'd appreciate it. Peace
Oh, come on people. Not one of you is from Athens? lol. I'm going next week. I'd love to meet any kind people out there.
That would be the reason I'm going. I'm insanely R.E.M. obsessed. Gonna have sex with either Mike Mills, or his son (if he's of legal age.) Yes, I spent all my money just to go to the town where a band lives. I'm sad.
It's better than going to Aberdeen because OMMG DATS WEER CUDTR KOBAN GRWW ^!!!!11one Seriously. Nirvana sucks.
Damn, I live in Athens but am jackin' around in New England for the rest of the month. If you want to see REM, go to the Go Bar. Stipe hangs out there.
we are 2 hours from athens, and work a 1/2 hour from there. if ya have time for a side trip your morethan welcome here.. love n light
I live in Athens. I can tell you where some cool places to check out would be. Don't count on seeing the REM guys but they might be in town. I do work for them occasionally
Athens is a cool place. I'm in a band myself so I love going there to jam with other musicians and see what's happening on the local music scene - there's a lot of cool fellow guitar players out there who are fun to jam with and talk to, lots of good bands although R.E.M. is the most famous to come out of Athens obviously, there's a lot of good lesser known bands that will be big in the future. Lots of cool people there in general. I've had some fun times there
I live 30 minutes from Athens, it's where all the people my age go to do anything. There is a lot to too and downtown is the best college downtown ive ever experienced.
I live in Monroe, about 15 miles west of Athens. I have been looking for other Hippies in my area. Im quite lonely. No one to talk with, or hang out with. Im here to stay for a while, so if you want to hang out, message me! Peace, Moonbeam (Allison)
I went to school in Athens back in the mid-late 80s. There was a real big hippie scene there then. Local writer Ed Tant said of The Classic City, then, "Athens is everything Berkley always wanted to be". This thread is kinda sad.
IMO, I think a lot has changed even in the past 10 years, let alone 20. When time changes, people tend to change too. Even I wish I had a little more of myself from 10 years ago. I have it in my heart to find other hippies near Athens, get us back together locally. Im on a mission and I am glad I found this place to help me out.
