I am wanting to find communes that are more the stereotypical hippie communes from the 60's, like the ones depicted in movies and such. The Farm, Stephen Gaskins, is not what I am looking for, his commune requires members to work outside the commune and members don;t share money or possessions. Heres what i am looking for: a commune that members will share all possessions, money, will be self sustainining, members work on the commune and contribute to it, they make their own food, clothes, and make their own energy for showers and electricity. They are basically cut off from modern society. I know their aren;t many like this around anymore, but their has got to be a few. I have heard Twin Oaks in Virginia is like this. Anyone confirm this?
I live at Twin Oaks... we share income that we earn from our bussinuesses... we grow a lot of our own food. But we get electricty from the local nuke plant. alot of our clothes are donated to us no matter where u go it's pretty godamn hard to be entirely self suffiencent. I'm understand and prolly hold alot of the ideals u have. and im more than content living here... although i will def see other comunities and thier setups p.s. and people have private possesions, like PCs and stereos and bikes
