HYDERABAD — The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has strongly condemned the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai and termed it an act of anti-national elements. MIM MP from Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisi said in a statement that the serial bomb blasts in local trains in Mumbai were highly condemnable. Expressing deep concern over the loss of several innocent lives, the young MP said there was need to remain united at this critical juncture. "The sympathies of all countrymen are with the victims of this terrible act," he said. Owaisi said the tragedy could have been averted had the police remained alert after Sunday's violent incidents in Mumbai.He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families.

This is a story that shows that the people who encourage terrorism and killing civilians are often cowards themselves .

if you remember omar bakri mohammed when he was in the uk he encouraged suicide bombing , I remember he used to have meetings where he encouraged children to be suicide bombers .

he fled to lebanon because he was likely to be jailed and now he has the chance to die with a suicide belt or ak47 himself fighting isrealis he has appealed to britain to save him from lebanon .

but surely he doesnt as he is in a country where muslims are under attack, he has a conventional enemy soldiers in uniform not civilians , hes not a women or apart from being fat disabled so surely he has a duty to fight .

and yet this is the sort of man people have listened to when hes told them to do suicide attacks on civilians , I believe he supported the attack on the school in beslan and considered that jihad .

Concerned by the "negative image of Islam being projected in connection with terrorism," prominent Muslim leaders on Thursday said this was "extremely injurious for the community in general and Islamic institutions in particular." "We are deeply concerned by the negative image of Islam. We feel that the present situation is injurious for Muslims in general and Islamic institutions in particular," said Rajya Sabha MP Mahmood A Madani, an english daily Pioneer reported here Friday. He said considering this fact, a two-day seminar `Terrorism and its remedy' is being convened from August 20 to deliberate on the issue which will also look into the ways to correct such an image of the Muslims. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and some of his cabinet colleagues are likely to attend the meet, he said. "We want people to understand that we are equally pained by the terrorist acts in India. But it hurts us when media and others brand terrorism as Islamic Terrorism," he said. "If you start blaming the madarsas of harboring terrorists without any solid proof, then we are invariably falling prey to the gameplan of terrorists who want to divide society. These are some of the issues that we would like to discuss," Madani added.

German Muslims Help Fight Extremism

BERLIN — German Muslims have offered to enhance cooperation with the security services to fight extremism, an initiative coinciding with a call from the interior minister for more Muslim contributions to fight terror threats in the European country. Aiman Mazyek, Secretary General of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany, said the body is ready to offer more local contacts to police to help efforts to battle extremism, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP). "It is a Muslim duty and our duty as citizens to report extremist tendencies," he told public broadcaster ARD on Wednesday, August 23. Mazyek stressed that the vast majority of the sizable Muslim minority, estimated at 3.4 million, stand united against violence. The Muslim leader, however, warned against lumping Muslims together with "terrorists". Last March, German Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries said that the Muslim minority was suffering from a growing religious discrimination with many Germans wrongly associating Islam with terrorism. A German intelligence report has revealed that only one percent of the Muslim population are members of organizations that pose serious threats to national security. Islam comes third in Germany after Protestant and Catholic Christianity.

Muslim Help
In an interview with Die Zeit news weekly published on Thursday, August 24, Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble called for further Muslim cooperation to stamp out extremism. "The great majority of Muslims must say what they think more loudly -- that they reject terror," he said "After all it threatens Muslims just as much as non-Muslims. We need the cooperation of organizations to fight extremists in their ranks." Schaeuble also called for tougher measures to fight terror threats in Germany following the foiled train plot. "It would be irresponsible to conclude from the success of the police search that we do not need to do more," he told Die Zeit. The interior minister suggested an expanded monitoring of Internet websites and wider observation of suspicious groups. "More security cameras should be used where it is sensible. We need to step up monitoring of the Internet, for which we need more experts with the right language skills. "We also need to intensify checks on the rail lines and air traffic security." Youssef Mohammed E.H., a 21-year-old Lebanese student, was arrested on July 31 in connection to a foiled train terror. Media reports have said his brother was killed in the Israeli offensive on Lebanon and the bombing plot may have been motivated by anger at the siege. Neighbors have described Youssef as a likeable man and a deeply religious Sunni Muslim. The second suspend, Jihad Hamad, on Thursday handed himself over to Lebanese police in the northern city of Tripoli. The prosecutor's office said the a clean-cut looking 20-year-old has been brought to Beirut and German investigators were on their way to question him and arrange his extradition.

BERLIN -- Germany's Muslim community on Friday, August 25, condemned the failed plot to blow up passengers trains in the west of the country last month and offered to help authorities fight terrorism. Sixteen organizations, including the Central Council of Muslims in Germany, issued a joint statement saying they were "deeply shocked and horrified".

"Islam offers no justification for such acts," said the groups in statements carried by Agence France-Presse Saturday, August 26. They said Muslims could have been victims in more than one sense if the plot to blow up trains outside the cities of Hamm and Koblenz on July 31 had succeeded. Homemade bombs planted on the trains in trolley suitcases failed to explode, averting an almost certain bloodbath. Two young Lebanese men who have been living in Germany have been arrested in connection with the plot. One of them turned himself in to police in Lebanon, where officials on Friday said he had made a confession. The clean-cut looking young men were filmed by security cameras at Cologne station, with one of them appearing in the grainy images to drag a suitcase along the platform. The bombs were packed into trolley suitcases and timed to explode simultaneously 10 minutes before the trains reached Hamm and Koblenz, but they failed to detonate. Press reports have said a brother of one of the pair was killed in the Israeli offensive on Lebanon and that his anger at the siege, and the West failure to stop it, may have motivated the bombing. Police are holding two more people, one in southern Germany and one in Lebanon, for questioning.

"Co-Accused"

The Muslims groups further regretted that people have a tendency to rush and blame Islam for the work of a handful of people. "If such an attack succeeds, we are potential victims of such attacks, along with all other citizens. But we will also be branded 'co-accused'," the groups said. Their statement follows a call by Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble earlier this week on Muslims to condemn the plot. German investigators on Friday said they were still looking for a number of people who may have helped the pair carry out their plans.
The head of the Federal Crime Office, Joerg Ziercke, told ARD television he was "convinced that there are still accomplices in Germany" but refused to confirm reports that police were looking for seven men. Last week, German Muslim leaders offered to enhance cooperation with the security services to fight extremism. Last March, German Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries said that the Muslim minority was suffering from a growing religious discrimination with many Germans wrongly associating Islam with terrorism.
A German intelligence report has revealed that only one percent of the Muslim population are members of organizations that pose serious threats to national security. Germany is home to about 3.4 million Muslims, of whom two-thirds are of Turkish origin. Islam comes third in Germany after Protestant and Catholic Christianity.

– The Sheikh of Azhar Dr. Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi called on the Muslim Ummah to stand united for confronting challenges facing it as well as to remove differences among them. In his inaugural speech at the Islamic Solidarity Camp here, Sayyid Tantawi drew attention to the fact that Islam is calling for promoting tolerance and cooperation among various sections of people in the world. The Sheikh of Azhar emphasized that Islam is the way for Muslim to expand bridges of mutual understanding and cooperation among various cultures. "For this we should have firm faith in Allah, the Almighty, who will protect the divine religion of Islam and the Holy Qur'an until the Day of Judgment," he said while stressing that Muslims should follow the practice of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through invoking help of God by coming closer to Him while they were facing any ordeal. Several youths from some 40 countries are taking part in the camp with the them of "Youths and the changes of the age." The camp, which is being held in Bor Saeed, in the north of Egypt, will last for one week.

The MCB Secretary-General, Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari, has completed a five week 22-city tour of the UK during which he and other senior MCB officials visited Muslim communities in Burnley, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Batley, Dewsbury, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Blackburn, Brighton, Newcastle, Bristol, Gloucester, Cardiff, Leicester, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Luton and London. The tour was a welcome opportunity to listen to British Muslims from many different backgrounds all across the country speaking about their aspirations and concerns. One concern that was voiced repeatedly throughout the cities visited was the spectre of a still virulent Islamophobia which was raising its head still higher in the wake of the alleged plane plot of recent weeks. “The Muslim community fully shares the need to deal firmly with any plot against national security but as partner-citizens and not as a 'generic suspect' to be administered mass medication or collective punishment”, said Dr Abdul Bari. "I am also delighted that following our discussions many additional organisations have now agreed to affiliate to the Muslim Council of Britain," he added. A report will be presented to the next meeting of the MCB's elected Central Working Committee in September 2006 to consider recommendations resulting from the tour.
