a sport is an atheltic activity...darts - um, your just extending your forearm...i don't see how that is in anyway an athletic activity. sure its a skill, but its not a sport. same with poker, thats not a sport.
Chess is considered a sport. Horseback riding is. Driving fast on a track in a car is. Etc. etc. ad infinitum.
i dont' consider chess a sport...theres nothing athetlic about it. and racing cars is a sport - i agree with that.
If I was gonna consider chess a sport, I might as well say I'm playing a sport when I sit on the forums and type. Yes, typing on the internet is a sport now.
seriously, lets just call sitting on your ass and playing a board game a sport its a great game, i was on the chess team in high school, but its not a sport.
So sitting on your ass and driving a car IS a sport? As a chess-lover I demand chess to be considered a sport.
racing a car, with all that gear on, dealing with the heat, dehydration, dealing with the force of the car while going around a turn - there is merit in calling it a sport....i don't necessarily agree with it, but i can admit there is a lot more merit in saying racing is a sport. calling darts, poker, or chess a sport is just plain ridiculous. i even hear calls for dominoes to be a sport
Not only hot dogs but did you ever see that one time ESPN televised a thing where they had a ton of different shit? They had like salad eating contests and tailgate platters and all this shit and it was a huge tournament. I think it was like you beat one person in the salad. Then you face the winner of the other salad match then you guys eat ravioli then the winners of ravioli do something else. The final round was Kobayashi (sp?) and Sonya Thomas and they had a huge tailgate platter with wings, chips, dips, ribs, tons of good food. Kobayashi kicked her ass and ate the whole bowl of dip plain. It was amazing.
no, didn't see that one. i was watchign espn and they were talking about a mini-hamburger eating contest
