I just succeded in converting one of my best friends to a vegetarian diet! I've know CJ for over two years and allways feed him and my other friends veggie meals when they come over.
My buddy CJis by no means a hippie but is more of a good ol country boy type of person. I live 30 mins away from the construction site where we work. For the last two week he's been staying at the house while he helped do a side job. As a result he ate veggie for two straight weeks. Well we finished so he is back at his place. That evening he ate some chilli w/ ground turkey. The nest day I went to pick him up for work and he was sick as a dog from eating meat!

The end result is that he has sworn off meat for good!

If I could only get my lady friend to do the same......

your GF has to want it.
sure, life is simpler in an all one diet household (like those exist in diet-maina-land)
but to adjust to multiple diet styles is also an exercise in compassion, too.
My sweetie has to think in terms of smell-invasion and remember to seal the bedroom door if he cooks meat, and I have to bend some and make the odd meat dish (I used to simply take him out to eat for that, but I get grass-raised natural beef for him now)
We will alway live in a greater omni community, no mater the size of the veg pocket we dwell in by choice.
Keeps us sharp with ingredients, too.

But I wish CJ all the luck in the world.

Being a veggie isn't a make or break thing when it comes to dating/relationships but its is a plus......

Neither of the two young ladies I've been seeing this summer are veggie but I just got the phone# of a veggie girl that goes to my church.hmmmm......

I've converted 4 friends and made a lot more aware about the issues. Some (usually the more conservative ones) simply refuse to budge and tend to mock/ bring up inane arguments such as "you kill plants!"

I think that's a pretty weak argument. I don't think many people understand how many different styles of food exist. I hardly ever eat salads and just pure vegetable dishes, but I don't eat meat either. Unless she would be considering a raw food diet, I don't think that would be an issue.

This is so true! I never knew food could have such a variety of wonderful flavors until I became a vegetarian. Most people think that the diet consists of just salads and raw vegetables. If you really want to convert people cook for them and show them what we really eat. I have surprised several people.

At the beginning of this past summer my cousin started to ask questions about vegetarianism so I told her all the stuff I knew and she got really interested, and a little while after that she stopped eating meat and hasn't eaten it since. I don't really think I converted her haha, but hey, it's one more person that I've helped on their path!:) My mom used to be a vegetarian too a few years back but she stopped because she lost too much weight and felt really unhealthy. So I started to bug her about eating meat (I know it's annoying when vegs do this, but I only do it with my close close family, never anyone else:)) but anyway, after showing her how much I cared for her to stop eating meat, she finally did a few months ago. I was really happy, and she hasn't eaten any since then. I try so hard to make my brother aware because I know deep down he really doesn't like the way animals are treated, I even gave him this booklet I got in the mail today, 'Why Vegan?' All I asked was that he read it, and he looked at the pictures in it and said he didn't want to read it. That was right before he ate his bacon and cheeseburger...but I think eventually, one day he'll stop eating it. But wow, I rambled off topic, sorry:)

Im happy to hear the good news. Vegan's I love, veggitarian's are good souls in my eyes. I think her body with be thankful for this healthy change. I know my body has thanked me. I read a post on a girl that was saying clear from milk then had a glass and became violenty sick. I agree, I think my body would do the same. I believe milk's for cows, I know I had my mom's milk, Thats people milk. Good. Cow+ milk= for baby cows. Im glad to hear the good new. I want to give my congrats. Live well my healthy friend.
I give my love, I hope to live well.
Peace & much of my love:)

I haven't succeeded in converting anyone yet but I have raised awareness. My dad used to eat a lot of meat (not like 3 times a day, but maybe 5-6 times a week for dinner, maybe 2-3 times for lunch. Well now he has cut back`quite a bit on meat and shares veggie meals with me! :)

Converting? =/ I eat meat and I deffinately did not come to this forum to talk trash but isn't it really up to the person? I have no problems with vegatarians, In fact my girlfriend has been one all her life. I just want to know I guess do you see it as a goal you need to accomplish to convert all of the meat eating world to plants? Does it make you a better vegatarian? I only ask because my girl never once has even tried to pressure me into converting to a vegatarian lifestyle. She makes it clear that it is her decision and I don't have to follow.

I don't pressure anyone to convert to being veggie just like I never pressure anyone to become a Christian(the NON fundie type) or a Deadhead etc... I simply live my life and demonstrate in my everyday living that a veggie diet is better than a carnivorous diet.
