dad hits a 13 year old football player

so i'm watching ESPN and they just did a story about how a father went on to the field and tackled a player on the other team for a "late hit" on his son. wtf goes on with parents to run on a field to hit a child.

 

I have no idea what sport this is about, but I do like what the father did. I would do the same if someone would hit my son.

 

i would never hit a kid. this was on the field of play, the "late hit" is suspect from the video. the father had no business running onto the field and tackling a 13 year old kid!

 

I can imagine the anger of the father when he sees another kid hitting his son.

 

its american football....you get hit in football - its a contact sport. his son got up and was fine. then you see the father run onto the field and hit the other kid. father needs to spend some time in jail. i hope he gets charged with what they said he might get charged with - felony child assualt

 

Oh come on, it would be so damn stupid if he has to go to jail for that.
He lost his temper for a moment because something happened to his kid. If the other kid is alright there is absolutely no need to punish the father and his whole family by sending him to jail.

 

I saw this and although it was extremely stupid I found it hilarious. The dude was sprinting out there and just laid the kid out. Honestly what could be going through his mind? I wouldn't have a problem if he went on the field and got in the kids face and started bitching at him. But laying the kid out? Come on now.

 

you lose your temper like that, you go to jail. this story brings back other stories of other ill-tempered fathers going nuts. one story a father ended up killing another father over what one kid did to another kid on the ice in a hockey game.

this shouldn't be taken lightly, he had no reason to be on the field. and should go to jail for hitting a child

 

Sounds like a 'hockey dad'. I remember a couple of years back an incident where a father went after another father, whom I think was the ref and beat him to death over what he perceived as unfair play towards his child on the ice. Think it was in Boston. Its pretty sad if you ask me.

 

So he goes to jail for a year or so and then what?
He probably does not become a better man in jail, might lose his job, his family and then becomes a criminal and a possible murderer.

Save jail for the real criminals.

 

who said 1 year. i dont' think that much, but he does deserve some jail time. then he should be banned from all youth sporting events.

 

Typical American attitude. Just jail him and ban him. Good riddance, it is not about me anyway so do whatever you want with the sucker.

But if it is you, you will have million excuses why it happened. Sometimes it is good to place yourself in someone elses shoes instead of judging so easily.

 

the only position i haven't been in is the position of a father watching his son/daughter play.

i've played, coached, ref'd, and supervised other refs - i've had angry parents come up to me as a ref for soccer, yelling at me. i've had other parents come up to me as a coach telling me my players play to hard. 1 parent tried to hit me. i've tossed over zealous parents out of the stadium with a red cards before.

i've seen and been the point of anger for parents before. if you can't control you temper around kids playing a youth sport, you have no reason to be anywhere near the kids, period.

 

If grown men that abuse children are not real criminals then what exactly is a real criminal?

 

I agree, if it happens multiple times the guy should get banned from youth sporting events. If it happened one time; nobody is perfect and you do not know the reasons for what happened, so therefore you can not play god and judge that person.

And jail, well, I explained about that one already.

Yes it is abuse. The dad is 30 some years older and is not playing on the field in the sport. And it was not a tackle it was a hit. The kid was fucking airborne. That my friend is physical abuse, battery, assault whichever you prefer to call it.

 

So we disagree.
