    Hello
just wondering if someone could advise me?
im growing indoors, on my 3rd grow now, 1st was ok, 2nd are looking very good and there are some very expensive seeds germinating as I write this!
My friends plants look different from my 1st 2 grows, less leaf , slightly smaller and bigger buds (yum). he says to put the plants under 12/12 2 weeks after germination. This is at least 3 weeks quicker than i've done on the 1st 2 grows. Is this ok, what are the benefits and will the poor little plants get too stressed out?
I do trust my friend but i'm interested to see what other folk have to say before I make a decision as the seeds were rather dear : )
Thanks for taking the time to read this
    Have a nice day

You want to wait until the plants are sexually mature (exhibiting alternating nodes) which generally occurs at week 4 of veg (from seed).
Clones from a mature donor plant can be 12/12-ed at any time.

Different strains grow differently. I've got 5 different strains growing. Of the 4 that are almost ready for harvest, 2 plants have a lot of leaves tight around the buds (and will be very hard to manicure), the other 2 are more "stretched out" and will be easy to manicure.
A lot of other factors are involved such as what medium and nutes the grower is using.

I would add one suggestion. The next time you have some "very expensive seeds", save them untill your knowledge and abilities are up to the task. No disrespect intended; but you wouldn't use a Maserati to learn how to drive, would you?

Ranger Danger is right on with that information. You will harvest much more from a mature plant. Growing from seed you have to inivest 4-6 weeks of veg time to get the optimum results. You can start flowering a sseed from day one, but your quality and yield will not be nearly the same as if left to mature first.

I have noticed that taking clones from a seed plant, that they continue to get better up to the time the strain is a year or so old with each successive generation, then it sort of peaks out as the strain reaches it's maturity. I normally never pronounce a strain unworthy until I have flowered out a few generations of it just to see if it will get better.

BTW< what are the expensive seeds you are germinating if I may ask? I just started some Bubba Kush x Sensi Star, and Butterscotch Hawaiian x G13's. I got high hopes for them :) PEace...
