It feels empty when it rains like dogs all night long The wind howling between the storm screens And the pines bending under the weight of some long-forgotten burden The sun peeks out between holes in the sky mockingly shining light on the slicklipped roads. I need the cold to come soon To help me appreciate summer I need some lightswitch to turn on To help me appreciate the night Plastic shutters torn off of fake hinges And the spaces leftover From clawed away kittens Twenty years since she mauled her first rat Twenty years since she saw her first storm Rain, rain Stay all day So I can face something That needs to be taken care of Wet yarn and broken boards A faulty return bar Blinking the time Green at me I am stuck in the mud of sunspots And I am heavy with the weight of ink.
jesus christ i love that just reading it made me feel like i was watching a poetry slam, or at one rather that and the topic is relevant
