last night we had to go to the hospital because aiden had a temp of 103.3 and i was freaking out i called shane and told him to come home asap. Aiden was very clingy would eat and very lathargic for three hours then he started to burn up so shane and i gave him a luke warm bath and after a few minutes he started to shake and shiver and wheeze so we rushed to the hospital. when we were seen by the doctor she had told us that they need to take a pee sample and a blood sample because they needed to know what they were working with. well when the doc put her stethoscope to hear aidens heart she had said that there was an irregular heart beat and she took the stethoscope off and listened with her ear and felt his chest to see if she could feel the irregularity she couldn't. So the doctor said that aiden has a level 4 heart murmur (which is innocent). according to the doctor an innocent heart murmur wont harm aidne in any way its just an irregualr heart beat. aidne dint not take it too well though when they took blood and put a cathater up his wee wee to get some pee but they got nothing so they put a bag over his wee wee and when he got his blood drawn he screamed and the bag was full. aiden had to get poked two seperate times for the blood sample. the first time was horrible the nurse he couldn't find a vein so he just put the needle in and wiggled it around and got nothing then a half hour later another nurse came in and within 2 minutes she had all the blood that they needed. And on top of all of that terry ( shane's mother) was there and that just added more stress and uncomfjortableness. she had no reason to be there i understand this is her only grandkid and she worries but seriously she did not need to be at the hospital adding stress to aiden and i in an already stressful situation. GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRR.
Oh, honey......(((((((Fairy))))))) (((((((Aiden)))))))) It is SO hard to see them so sick and being poked and prodded. That's often worse than anything. Sage dehydrated about 2 year ago, nearly the same symptoms as Aiden (and she had recently weaned, so I was kicking myself) and we went through something similar. My dh was crying and kept saying, "Oh, God, I wish it were me. I wish it were me instead." When they were trying to get the IV in, and we were trying to keep her calm. didn't cry until we got home and she finally fell asleep. She needed IV hydration, which I have never had to give one of my own children before. You just collapse when you finally get home and can rest. I am almost in tears thinking of what you guys went through yesterday. It'll be OK. Innocent Heart Murmurs can often be temporary, even due to a virus, probably the one which made him sick in the first place. There is a chance that a year from now, it'll be gone. Even if it's not, he'll be OK. Just do NOTHING today but hold Aiden and nurse him and love him. He may be really hanging on you, from the stress of being sick and the ER. Thank goodness you are there for him. Peaceful, sweet, cool thoughts for you an Aiden, mama.
awwwww i'm sorry this has happened to your son. it saddens me when i hear/see a child going through bad situations. <hugs>
thank you all for your warm compassion. well maggie i dont think the murmur is a temporary thing because shane and i took him to the doctors for the same exact thing about two months ago and his pediatrician did not hear the irregualrness of the heart. the doctor at the ER said that due to the fever the irregularness was brought out much better. so to be honest i am thankful for the fever
