I suspect a nutrient deficiency. The plant's new leaves are yellowish, there are a few v.small brown dots forming on the older leaves' surface. A couple of leaves are slightly twisted. The older leaves are yellowish nearest the stem, although there is chlorosis in a coulpe of spots of the outer edge of the leaves too. I've tried reading up on this, but I simply cannot isolate what the problem is. Help

The problem looks extremely similar to the plant in this link

BTW I edited this post, but can't change the name of the thread - which is why it doesn't match the post.

That's one sick looking plant, how sad.

I hope someone can offer a suggestion!

My first reaction is nutes, but you have that under control, right?

THen there is the remote possibility of a viral infection...

Was this grown from expensive seed stock, or can you just rip them out and start over after sterilizing everything in the grow room?

    Hope you find a solution,
    ~Chris

It appears deficient but not so sick it can't recover. I suspect that ph is off causing nutrient deficiency because the plant is so small and young. Normally any potting soil would provide better nutrition. If it is deficient I would say it is magnesium or nitrogen. I teaspoon in a gallon of water of epsom salts won't harm it so give it a try. Water it normally twice with that solution and see if it improves. BOG

I could be wrong of course.

OK, thanks. I'm going to repot in a better substrate with better drainage (perlite). I'm going to test for nitrogen and see whjat's going on. I'm using a crap fert so I'm getting some new stuff tomorrow that is better suited. If the PH is high, I'll add some epsom salts, but I'm hoping repotting with better substrate will help. The current substrate is too compact and is holding too much water in the bottom of the pot, so drainage is suffering. Could this be the source of the problem? Pics:

Too young to supplement for deficiencies but they need feeding. Its looks nitrogen deficient probably due to your soil mix being inadequate. Do check the ph of your water and shoot for just under 7.0 BOG

OK, I've repotted, and my new envirolites have arrived so I know lighting is spot on. So far some of the plants are much greener and have a boost in growth, and we're on the third node pushing fourth now, but there still seems to be a problem - necrotic spots are cropping up on a number of the lower leaves of some plants. I reckon I have a nute lock-out thing going on, so I'm getting the ph tester tomorrow for the soil. My bets are on it being acidic, even though it's meant to be neutral soil. The water ph level is 6.5, is that too low?

    6.5 would be good.

Do they get any feeds? What kind?
