I recently bought a quarter ounce and have collected somewhere between 20-30 seeds from it. I was wondering if they have any chance of actually growing if I planted them in some decent soil outside.

alot of seeds can grow. it depends if they are fully mature and once they sprout if you take care of them they will grow into beautiful plants

^^ i know i could look it up, but how long do they take to approx. be ready to harvest? i was thinking of tossing some seeds when i get back to uni, but it might be best to wait until spring again, and just scatter them in the woods somewhere. can you save seeds, or do they go bad after a couple months?

You should consider growing them indoors. My canmates in university collected seeds from marijuana that they both and grew it indoors in the winter. You'll need to take great care of them though.

    A. Don't plant indoors at school.

    B. "Scattering" them won't work. You need to choose a remote location where no one ever goes, near water, dig holes, put in potting soil, and they need fertilized water every 2--3 days.
Plant in the spring, after the last danger of frost (April or May), harvest mid-Oct.
Do it right and you can harvest 3--8 oz. buds per plant.
