Once more.. just leave your hair be, they will tighten on there own, and knott up faster if you do... it may take longer till they "first" start.. but when they do... its like boom and all of a sudden you have dread locks

i like using oils, they satisfy your scalp and control the frizz. you need to sew up the loose hairs back into your dreads. there's no need for wax.

petroli(sp?),euycalipus(sp?), tea tree, and sandlewood. euycalipus and tea tree keep the bugs away. i just love the smell of the other oils.

you dont need an alternative. just leave your hair alone and nature will take its course!

That sounds a good idea, Aloe Vera. Thanks. I also like the idea of leaving it, thing is at times where I need to have neat dreads like, going out to posh resturants, seeing friends, meeting the queen:D. I'll look into both ideas. Thanks!

    Peace, love and dreads!

wouldn't that soften your dreads and make them unknot?

all this work for nothing. you dont need any form of oils,, for your head produces oils and will take care of every thing, and your hair dose the rest. id say just leaveing your hair alone would be the best thing to do.. take my word for it.. no wax

Do they smell "good" or do you just like the smell?

That’s a great idea, i personally would dilute it and make "tincture" so to speak and spray it on. because my scalp is sensitive

Wax is bad! I used wax on my first set of dreads, for about the first 6 months. Over 2 years later, when I was forced to cut them off, I found moldy wax in the middle of my dreads. Yuck!
With the dreads I have now, I used no wax. They knotted up alot faster, are easier to keep clean and smell better. When the frizzies get crazy, I just use aloe vera. It strengthens your hair without conditioning it.

no. aloe is very good for dreads as it keeps them moisturized, calms frizz, and soothes your scalp (like if you have itchies or dandruff)

Tea tree oil does the same thing, but it's easier to find than aloe.
