Virtual worlds were once the stuff of SF... Now u can play WoW and play realtime with 1000's of others in a seemless world that would take months to explore 24/7 even without the nasty bitey things that can hurt u... And this is just the beginning. The model T ford of Net/gaming world. Occam [Korman..Oceana/Barthilas/PvP lvl41 Pally]
I know a bunch of people who play it, I can't really find the time to get into it. I'll wait for a GTA "world" type game.
A GTA MMO would indeed be incrdibly awesome. Rather than a huge world with multiple small cities, you could model a huge city, like NY, with different gangs the players could be a part of, like Horde and Alliance in WoW. It would be great. I'd buy it. And as far as WoW goes, my highest level character is only 27. I've started and abandoned so many characters that any character I make now will be boring until I spend the time to get to the 3rd tier area, which is too much effort when it's so boring.
aside from not having broadband/highspeed access, i'm not real interested in/gratified by "warcraft". that seems to be the choice in mmo's, that or little green pieces of paper (ala second life). when and if there's a realistic mmo about building sustainable, environmentaly harmonious infrastructure, without the familiar presumptions about armed conflict and monetary economics i'll be VERY interested. =^^= .../\...
Oh man, I used to be a total EverCrack addict. How I miss her, EQ, my first love. x_x Although WoW is lots of fun, too. I play it occasionally at a friend's house.
i have a friend who loses countless hours of his life to that game. he is massively into it and chats for 5 minutes on msn before heading off to play that. i can't see the fascination, but to each his own!
Oh man.. I spent pretty much seven solid months on WoW. No school, no work, socialising maybe once a month, i swear WoW is the ice of computer games. In retrospect i'm extremely glad they banned my account for abuse before i OD'd on it :| I think i'll avoid MMO's like i avoid heroin and ice from now on.
I'm with Green - EQ2 here as well. I've been hooked on MMORPGs since the jump from MUDs to UO. It's terribly dissapointing how far these games have come in terms of content and uniqueness. However I think this: Spore is kind of intriguing. I like the idea of a Massively Single-Player Online Game. The vid is kinda long but give it a chance if you think the concept is neat.
