I work at a wildlife hospital in the UK, which is a wonderful job, I'm so lucky. On saturday we had an admission of four baby wood mice of one week old. The nest had been disturbed and the mother never returned. Usually such small animals would die within a few hours of being removed from mom. By the time they got to us they had been away from mom for 16 hours with no food or water, and they were still hanging on. I got them on some puppy milk and put them in an incubator. Now the only way to save them is for someone to take them home to feed them every two hours day and night. So guess who volunteered for the job... I must be mental. So over the last four days (and a serious lack of sleep) all four are still with us. I thought I'd post a few pics of their progress for you to see, they are sooooooooooo cute!

    ZOMG! So cute!!

With the addition of Ben(our rat) to our family, I have become such the rodent lover. They've officially replaced cats on my list of ideal companions.

I'm so happy you were able to save them!!

    I love my job!

Sadly today we lost one of the two boys. He died in the afternoon from fluid in the airways. There was nothing we could do for him and it was very quick. He just fell asleep and never awoke. The other three are still doing fine, feeding well and are becoming active. I caught a glimmer of an eye earlier, I can't wait until they open. Their claws are developing so they are figuring out the whole climbing thing, it's really very sweet. I'll post some more pics tomorrow and keep you updated on their progress :)

Sadly we lost the other boy yesterday afternoon :( But on the up side the 2 girls are doing really well today, they are eating loads, peeing and pooping loads and are getting really active. I'm going to take some pics later, so I'll post them, I might even take a vid too.
