The education system in the US is one slowly growing worse, i go to public school here, and it seems that each year, there are less resources, and less books. it seems that were shown something, and asked to repeat it back. There isnt any true learning. The arts, foriegn language, and advanced classes are being scaled back, and there arent enough books for everyone. We use txtbooks that are close to a decade old. They only offer advanced classes every other year. Most of what i have learned is gleaned from my own places. We have to pay for our art, computer, and anything else not "needed". There is a harder and harder push for students to start on the technical path, with technical classes surpassing those of the uni. path, while there are less and less students in the technical path. The no child left behind has cut the funding of our school, because the attendince rate was 83% not the 93% which is "required", we are forced to wait on the slower bunch. Bcause there arent enough teachers to follow up and helping them out. We also have a student teacher ratio of 32/1, maybe its time to stop spending money on guns, and maybe putting it into, hmmm.... maybe books, perhaps? It is time to end this no child left behind, and to end all of our police work in the world, and finally teach what people need to know.
old news. tell me about it. i start my student teaching soon and i will be put in a city school teaching like 35 kids at once. Bush has fucked up our schools and it will take years to get back to where we were prior to his existence.
well, it seems the only thing that could work would be a student protest..... but of course, there are few that would take the time to do that.......
