what do you have? what have you had? and what do you plan to get in the near future? Right now I have 2 leopard geckos (1 albino), a gargoyle gecko, 4 bearded dragons, a mali uromastyx, and an iguana. In the past I've had a savanah monitor, an argentine b&w tegu, a columbian b&w tegu, a vietnamese calote, a spiny tailed iguana, a black spiny tailed iguana, a chinese water dragon, 2 veiled chameleons, a pictus gecko, and an eastern collared. Also 3 sliders and a couple newts here and there. but i live in a small apartment now and couldnt house them all
I used to have a giant glass lizard (sheltopusik) that I rescued from the horrors of the pet store I was working while in college. He eventually died of old age a couple years ago. I do not keep reptiles because I don't think they are ever truly happy living in captivity and even with a large three bedroom house I don't really have enough room to house them properly. I have a huge problem with wild-caught "pets" and nearly as big a problem with breeders who sell to evil petstores for their animals to be tortured to death if they aren't lucky enough to be sold immediately upon arrival.
I have 2 leopard geckos,a classic or "normal" morph named Bear and a blizzard morph named Mystta.I also have a red ear slider turtle named Tanjobi.Tanjobi was a rescue and both the geckos came from breeders, altho dofferent breeders!! In the past I have had frogs and newts.I would eventually like a corn snake, crested gecko and a bearded dragon.
I have Lujan our big male Beardie, Serrano the Corn Snake and Gordon the Turkish Gecko, we also have fire-bellied toads, but they're amphibs. I also work with a large range of wonderful reptiles and exotics, from bull snakes to iguanas to plated lizards to water dragons and many more fab snakes and lizards.
Im going to go catch one with my uncle ...supposedly next spring. Nothing inparticular...I just find snakes fasinating. The way they can stick striaght up just using their muscles. But I once I think had a pithon on my shoulders or a boa...not really entirly sure. I was little and my friends moms boyfriend brought it over to their house. It was pretty neat!
I used to have a gargoyle gecko, but then she died. Now i just have 2 firebellied toads and a fire newt.
Lizards are cool. I want one. I dont know what type I should get. I give my peace, and I give my love. Much love I give.
We have a 6 yr old male Beardie, 2- 2 yr old Albino Corn Snakes and we just added a Box Turtle for my son.
We're down to just one gold-dust gecko at the moment, though we may still have a Vietnamese golden gecko living in the house somewhere. He escaped and is probably still living happily on flies and spiders. We know he survived at least six months on his own, but he keeps a pretty low profile. We've had a sulcata tortoise, a few exotic amphibians, and even had a gorgeous blue-tongue skink at one time. If we get a snake, it would almost certainly be a corn snake. They are hands-down the friendliest I've ever run across. But we lack room for better enclosures, and our serval would chow down on anything that got into the main section of the house.
We have had a few anoles, Right now we are working on a living palludarium. When it is finished it will be an amazon basin recreation. It will have fish, plants and a reptile or two. I am thinking of dart frogs, and an anole or two. But it will be a bit before we are ready to move anything living into it.
please post some pics! i'd love to see it in production, AND finished with critters! my bf has big plans for something like this when we move into a house. i think it will house our ropefish and our softshell turtles, who are now in regular tanks. peace. LP
We actually created a vivarium in our livingroom for our red-eyes. We used a large hexagonal aquarium, set up a bottom that would allow water to drain through easily (raised plastic grid for over fluorescent ceiling fixtures and hardware cloth), built up layers of gravel and filter charcoal, then put several water-loving plants in enough soil to keep them healthy. We finished with a mini-waterfall in the back so that it would splash down and keep everything moist. We threw in a bunch of crickets, cricket food, the red-eyes, and we didn't have to do anything but add cricket food and add water to compensate for the evaporation for six months. It was an amazingly well balanced mini-ecosystem. We used to sit and watch it instead of the tv.
I would love to see pics if you still have it. We are still working on it. I put in my first plants, banana lillies and red swords underwater and a pothos that will grow both above and below water. Also added a cory. The water is still murkey as my hubby tried to help me and ended up stirring up all the sand I need to get a screen cover for it and the pet store was out of the size i need, so no reptiles yet. I did look at what they had and I think we are going to start with two anoles and a red frog. I will post some pics when it is together more.
me too! and busmama, yours sounds real cool.....BUT please add at least 2 more cories. they love to be in groups of 3 or more. you'll see an immediate change in behavior too. they swim around all together, bumping each other, so cute.....1 cory cat will be very sad and lonely. i can't wait to see some finished pics! peace. LP
haha, that's us! we have 3 tanks of fish, and one with the turts! more entertaining than tv any day! peace. LP
Yes, I found that out so I added three more for a total of 4. Hoping to add two angelfish after I am sure that the water specs are stable.
