what's up with that? I have them every now and again. And they don't come at any specific time...like say if i've been craving meat or whatever (which i rarely do these days anyway). In it i'll be vegetarian still, but i'll either try sneaking meat on the side, or just trying it to see if i still like it or not. It feels weird because i wake up with this really sad & nauceous feeling in the pit of my stomach like 'ohhh why did you do that?!?!?!?!?' until i realize it never happened.
Dreams are just whatever's kicking around your subconcious. The western world is meat-centric, and am I right thinking you were omni before?, either way that's lot of programming to undo. I guess it's natural to still have a sense of curiosity or whatever but that doesn't mean what you've got now isn't right. After all my parents are very happily married but still have their celebrity crushes. Stay stong, you know you're doing the right thing
I saw some steaks marinating today, I used to get really hungry at sights like that, thank god that passed
our bodies instinctively know what we need to survive. when i was veg, i used to dream about meat all the time. i'd wake up drooling, practically. now i know that i did a lot of damage to my body back then~i'm recovering from a metabolic disorder that i created in my body thru inadequate protein intake anyways, this might be a wake up call for you. ~in health~ nimh
okay thanks for trying to convert me????? but i was just saying it was weird because it's not something i ever want again. In my dreams i usually throw up after eating it. I never wake up drooling.
I've had those dreams before. I think maybe they're just old cravings acting out in your dreams, like a release dream. As a former omni I used to love eating meat & dairy. Barbeques still smell good to me and I think they always will. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You're a veghead now. I love having dreams where I do things I would never do in real life. It's like being able to do whatever you want without having the guilty conscience of really doing it.
I just had a dream where I was eating meat ..... and in the dream when I started to eat the meat, it was almost as if I were enjoying it and then like a minute later I looked at the meat I was eating and started to spit it out --- when I woke up I thought I had screwed up big time by eating meat and then I realized that I didnt eat meat at all. It was a very strange feeling. I have been a vegetarian for about 7 months and this was the first meat dream I have had. YUCK!!
when I first went veggie I had that, and I was the same, I was so disgusted and worried. I had the same thing happen to me when I quit smoking too, I would dream about having a smoke, or a puff, and then I would be like "OMG WHAT DID I DO?!!!!!!" Dreams like that, signified, in my opinion, the importance of what I was doing. It was like a subconcious effort to tell me "keep it up"
Ditto here on the veg*n dreams, has anyone ever had a dream like this sexually? Same type of premise, but with the attraction to someone of the opposite/same sex. Every now and then, I'll have a dream that begins with some sort of interaction with a female, and I'm rather aroused. Then, out of no where, the female turns into a male and I lose my attraction but I haven't figured out why...then it clicks, and I wake up. Kinda weird and off topic..haha my bad.
I have dreams like this as well! It's only stated happening this month. I'll be dreaming that my younger brother is eating a hot dog or a chicken strip and then I take a bite... As soon as I bite into I feel guilty and start thinking "what the hell did i just do?!" then I usually feel sick. Once I wake up i'm so releaved that it wasn't real..
i never once had a meat craving after i went veggie, honestly. i thought i would. i dont know why i didnt. i think it may have been because i really thought about my choice and educated myself before i made the transition, my heart was in it. now im vegan and the thought of eating meat makes me want to vomit. be strong, you'll get over it in time.
clair!---- eat soy products, fake meats, and/or nuts, seeds, and legumes. Kidney beans, soy beans, any bean you can think of pretty much, is packed with protein. Nuts and seeds, self explanatory... fake meat products [veggie burgers, veggie chick'n] also stocked with protein. Special K Protein Plus and Silk Soymilk is almost a daily meal for me... and both combined offer a heap of protein. It's really not that difficult to get protein.
dont eat soy!!! stick with the nuts, seeds, lentils, pulses, but for all that's good in this world, dont poison your body with that plasticy, antinutrient dense, overprocessed, nasty soy click the link above for lots of reasons why. ps, soy was never eaten in huge quantities in a traditional asian diet, it was eaten in small amounts of fermented soy (think one or two tablespoons a day) in conjunction with freshly caught local fish. it's just not healthy to eat soy, sorry kids. pps, if you're not vegan, then eggs are a lovely source of protein. just try to get free-ranged, locally farmed happy eggs.
A few months back I started having dreams about meat, too. I would even crave it when I was awake, but the thought of actually eating it would make me sick. I think it might have had something to do with the whole start of summer and being in the Southern US BBQ and cookouts go hand in hand with summer. After about a month I no longer had any dreams or cravings, and I never ate any meat. Nimh could be right in that your body might need something that it use to get primarily from meat. It could be protein, though protein is pretty easy to get from vegetables as pointed out. Possibly iron or B12? I would not go so far to tell anyone to stop eating soy, but it should be taken in moderation and it should not be your primary source of protein. Consuming large amounts of soy is not good and some people have trouble with it, though others do not. It still appears to have health benefits.
soy is aweful, it causes colon cancer, infertility, deformed infant genitalia, and mineral deficiencies....sorry, but it really is healthier to stay far away from the stuff. use the soybean oil to run your car or use plastics and waxes made from soy, but for goodness sake, dont eat it. the dark side of soy ps, to the op, maybe your naturopath can energy test you to see if you're deficient in any key nutrients.
you know, it probably just has something to do with the fact that one of your main identifying factors is that you're a vegetarian. like some people identify themselves as parents or child-free, hetero- or homo-sexual. and whenever you place a label upon yourself, your brain sorta gives you a chance to reaffirm that identifying factor. i'm sure that people who consider themselves completely straight have homosexual dreams that may or may not make them uncomfortable, and however they process that information is just another step in feeling completely okay with who you are. apparently, you're still totally comfortable with this aspect of yourself and see no real need to change it. how's that for affirmation, eh? got that load from a counselor i saw a while back.
